F/u WC-anti vax SIL

H didnt say anything else to SIL after the email exchange where he asked her if she heard about the cases of WC and if she had her boys vaccinated. We knew it would turn into a huge thing so we decided to let her make the call and do the right thing and not bring the boys if they were sick. Obviously just that exchange p/ssed her off. SIL came to the party by herself, 2 1/2 hours late and said her "sick kids probably wouldnt be welcome." She didn't bring a gift for DS either which makes me think she wasn't going to come at all

Re: F/u WC-anti vax SIL

  • Hmm I'm not sure what people like this expect if they are not going to get their children vaccinated even as outbreaks are happening in their own area. Were her kids actually sick or was she just trying to find a way to take your good intentions the wrong way? I'm sorry she had to be a ruin-er.

  • Blech.  Putting aside being anti-vax, she sounds like kind of a b!tch, anyway (and like she may have been lying to you about what she knew at the school and the risk).

  • i love how, in the end, it was all about her.  because it really is, you know.  Confused

I don't know-I doubt it though because she invited her brother's family back to her place after the party so they could see them and play, etc. ((shrugs)) I was just trying to keep my family healthy-it may or may not have been an issue, but I'll err on the side of caution with a WC outbreak.

She is usually not-I like her the most of anyone in H's family and I get that it probably seems like I'm singling her kids out, and it would make me go into mama bear mode, but this isn't like I'm saying I don't like her kids-I don't want them to get WC as much as I want to protect my own kid from it

If you want to know how they think

    http://www.mothering.com/community/t/1349530/question-on-sending-nonvaxxed-ds-back-to-school-after-outbreak

She considers multiple course of antibiotics, all sorts of supplements, but never once thinks that a vaccine might be useful.

    and this is her again

I find the ones who deny germ theory more logical. If she's terrified of the disease, why doesn't she take the first, biggest step in protecting her kids?
