Cherry Blossom: How did everyone do?
I knocked close to three minutes off of my previous time and came in at 1:26:10 which is an 8:32 average. I'm happy with my mile splits, I just wish they were in different order because I went out too fast! Mile 4 was an 8:04 and I would have loved to have that been one of my later mile times.
Did anyone else see the downed runner around mile 8.8? I keep searching the news to try to find out what happened because when I went by he was being administered chest compressions and when one of my friends went by later on the guy was being loaded up into the ambulance.
Re: Cherry Blossom: How did everyone do?
Way to go! I finished in 1:34:50 (9:30), a PR by about 3 minutes.
DH finished in 1:03:??
My only complaint was that I thought there wasn't as much space to walk around as in the past. For some reason I couldn't find DH at the end of the race and ended up meeting him at the car about an hour after I was finished. He said he was sitting by the band, but I circled the bag pickup a good 10 times and didn't find him. He also had all my warm clothes as he picked up my bag (cause there aren't long lines when he got done). Luckily some friends passed me at the car and gave me a blanket.
nice work with the PRs ladies!
not my fastest 10 M yesterday, not my slowest either. but most importantly not another 1:26:3X (time in my last two 10M)! came in right around the 1:25 mark. but my chip time is like 40 sec slower than what I have on my watch which is odd. usually my watch and the chip are closer than that.
despite not running a 10M PR, I'm pretty pleased with my performance. I didn't go out too fast, didn't waste energy weaving in the first couple miles, and ran very even splits. these are all things I've been working on.
saw joan benoit-samuelson milling around with the runners pre-race. which surprised me because I thought the elites had their own little tent to hang in.
I swore off the CB 10M years ago due to the crowding and chaos at the start. was happy to see that they've made some improvements. I'd still like to see better policing of corrals so that people can get into their race pace sooner, but for $40 I'll do it again.
also saw the man that went down around mile 9. he was getting chest compressions when I ran by. CUCB hasn't released any info. they are saying due to HIPPA restrictions so hopefully that means that he survived. I really hope he's OK. it's always distressing when otherwise healthy runners collapse.
Based on your finish time we probably went by that poor man around the same time. I had running buddies in the race and the first one finished in 1:17 and say him on the ground with a few other people and police running towards them. You and I finished in 1:26 and saw him getting chest compressions. Another running buddy finished in 1:29 and saw him being loaded into the ambulance.
I saw the Cherry Blossom tweets last night about HIPPA, but I was surprised there was nothing in the news about. Two people died during the Philly Marathon and it made the news by 2pm of race day.
I was very pleased with my performance. It was my first Cherry Blossom and 10 mile race. My goals were to have a 10:00/mi pace, stay consistent, and finish strong. My pace was 9:59 (lol), I was very consistent, and I finished really well.
This was one of my favorite races. I thought it was well organized and I enjoyed the other runners. At least the people running near me were pleasant to be around and didn't take themselves too seriously.
Great job, ladies!
yeah, the fact that deaths at other races hit the news shortly after the fact make me hopeful that he survived and is recuperating somewhere. I've been thinking about him and his family.

Nice job, ladies!
I was towards the back of the pack, and finished around 1:53. It was an instant PR for me since it was my first 10 Miler. But I think it was my quickest pace so far in a longer distance race (over a 10k).
I didn't see the male runner who went down, but now that I read the comments, I did see an ambulance around that mile marker. Closer to the finish, I saw a woman on a stretcher, she seemed alert, so I hope she was ok, too!
