just looking for some ideas :)

thanks so much!

Re: what do you eat night before race?

  • Usually rice, black beans and veggies (broccoli, carrots, green beans, peas, onion, etc) mixed together.

  • For a long run I do some type of pasta with a cream sauce with veggies and chicken.

  • Usually pizza. It's treated me well before long training runs, and it's easy to find when we travel to a race away from home.
  • i eat light foods in high quantity the day before.  i had a 15k today, and last night for dinner, i had a big spinach salad with avocado and shrimp.  breakfast this morning was PB and banana on a wrap, and a cup of coffee.

    Purple Stride NYC (5k) 4/21/12
Run to Combat Autism (5k) 4/29/12
    RnR Philadelphia (Half Marathon) 9/16/12
  • I usually eat pizza the nights before my long runs, so I usually stick with that for races as well.

  • Pasta (with marinara sauce, turkey meatballs, and parmesan), whole grain bread, and salad.

  • Pizza is usually a good bet.  I try and avoid eating too many veggies... it seems to help prevent bathroom breaks during the race.  (I've never had an issue during a race, but I've had this problem during long runs and leafy greens seem to be the culprit)
  • Chicken parm with pasta and salad. It treated me well once before a race and I stuck with it since then.

  • Some sort of simple pasta--spaghetti and meatballs, pasta alla vodka and chicken, etc.  And veggies.  And lots of water.  And usually a glass of wine to help me fall asleep quickly!
  • If it's a shorter race, whatever I am in the mood for.  If it's 9-10 miles + I have to be careful with what I eat.  a simple pasta & chicken dish, pizza or pancakes seem to work the best.  I have to avoid greens, veggies, etc.... the night before a long run or race.

  • A couple of slices of plain, cheese pizza.  I do try to mop off most of the grease with a paper towel though.
