So... who watched Game of Thrones? (pos sp)
Thoughts?
When it ended, I was surprised. I thought we were only half way through! It just sort of set things up, didn't really introduce new people (for those who have read the books, I think they will introduce 2 female characters next week who will be important...) My husband, who is obsessed with this series, thought it was kind of a boring episode. But it was good to have it back!

Re: So... who watched Game of Thrones? (pos sp)
I kinda like the fact that everybody and their momma know the deets on Cersei and Jamie.
Also, I didn't find it boring. Slow moving - maybe, but to me that's important because it sets the stage for the remainder of the season.
I watched that, too. Plus GCB and Mad Men (twice). I watched a lot of TV last night.
I enjoyed it, but honestly I need to do a quick refresher on last season, then watch this again.
I did!
I thought it was a good first episode b/c it set up a lot of the plotlines, and there are a TON of them in the 2nd book. I'm just glad it's back.

It was a good setup for the rest of the season and I am so glad O'Mall, I mean Littlefinger was almost taken down. I hope he changes sides, again. The preview for the season seems very action packed.
And, the True Blood preview...can't wait until June!
I fell asleep before I could watch Mad Men, lol. (We watched Game of Thrones early since we were able to record the east coast feed.)
I keep forgetting that they DID introduce Melissandre (and Davos, and Stannis), but I don't like her. It was a pretty good set-up. Tyrion is awesome. I see they gave Peter Dinklage top billing since there's no Sean Bean anymore and since he won a freaking Emmy.

I almost squealed when Ceseri slapped Geoffry. Little brat. haha.
Although he went all Herod and Pharaoh with the bastard killing.
Sad about Daenarys' horse, and creepy about the other Baratheon (or however you spell that) brother. Burning the gods, and then that guy drinking poison. Weird.
Anyone else get geekily happy to see Tonks with Bran?

I thought so too and was joking with DH about how much loving the guy got. Geoffrey icks me for some reason and I can't stand his whiney-ness. So glad he got slapped.

We re-started our HBO subscription last night just to watch.
I just finished book five a couple of weeks ago, and read book two so long ago that I had a tough time getting my footing. I could have done without seeing all the babies being killed, and I'm not sure I like the woman playing Melisandre, but I was happy. Man, do I love Tyrion's character in this show.
Yes,I'm smiling...I'm a marathoner!

After watching Season 1 of GoT, I read books 1-4 this winter. So now I am just so far ahead of this story that I thought the show was good but had to remind myself what was happening. I kept wanting more action (that I knew was coming) to come.
One thing that I loved when reading the first book was how true to it the 1st season had been. But in this first episode one thing that I really missed out on was Tyrion standing up for Sansa. Now it is possible I am mistaken bc I didn't look it up, but I thought in that scene with Ser Dontos being drunk and being a fool, that after Sansa speaks up and sort of saves Dontos, Joffrey asks the guards to hit her and Tyrion tells them to stop. Because I think it helps to put Tyrion in a more positive light to show that he spoke up about Joffrey's cruelty and insanity.
But maybe that is in a later scene where Joffrey is being cruel and disgusting to Sansa (as he always is).
I am on the waiting list at the library for book 5 (Dances with Dragons) and I am super excited for that.

HBO On Demand has some specials, like a recap of season 1 and "this season, on game of thrones!" stuff if you're interested.
Also, I read the first 4 books about 4 years ago and then read the 5th one when it came out, so I am painfully forgetful of what actually happened in book 2.
And book 3 will be split into 2 seasons.

I did! I was surprised when it ended, because it seemed like it should have kept going. I agree that it needed to set up a lot, because there is so much that happened in book two.
Joffery is a little ***. I'm excited for the rest of this season. I am SO glad it's back on!
