Let's talk about black on white crime
Because for me, every time someone brings up black on white crime in reference to Trayvon Martin, they're just reaffirming Zimmerman's racially biased fear of Trayvon.

Re: Let's talk about black on white crime
I agree. I don't even want to play the game comparing different racial hatreds.
I say this as someone who has faced gun toting rednecks at my door looking to run my family out of the area because of my mother's mixed-race relationship: I will *never* be able to fully realize what it's like to be hated solely because of my skin's color.
i guess I just don't see a connection.
Any murder that is motivated by race... whether white on black, black on white, asian on white, white on asian, etc, etc... is about hate and is obviously wrong.
Unfortunately there are still racial motivated crimes against all races by all races... that fact does not negate any individual crime.
I "think" what the people that are doing this are trying to say is that they don't get why this particular case got so much media attention versus the many other just as equally wrong racially motivated crimes, but it comes off really badly and is not really a good way to make a point.
I would like to talk about black on white crime actually.
I think one big misconception is that the ratio of hate crime vs. crime committed without regard to race is the same for black on white crime and white on black crime. Negative stereotypes against black people result in harmful crimes like assult and murder. Beyond the crime, black people are futher disadvantaged by the court system, sentencing, and then if they manage to get parole, further discrimination for the rest of their lives. But you know all of this.
What negative stereotypes result in the same type of violence against white people? Hmmm we wear sandals despite horrific feet, let our kids run wild, love the AC, smell like wet dog...yea, so that doesnt really equal the same type of reaction as being scared of a "thug". When controlled for socioeconomic status, Im not sure that there is much black on white hate crime to speak of.
Um...yeah, I had to laugh at all of that. LOL!
