Major or AW? Canning question
I made jam last night and processed the jars in a boling water bath per the internet's instructions. When I took a look at them before I left this morning I don't think one of the jars popped. Can I reuse the lid if it didn't pop or do I need a new one? Can I just eat that jar now and stave off falling prey to microbrial yuckies?
Thanks much!

Re: Major or AW? Canning question
I'm a cheapskate. Look at the lid and see if it is completely flat. If it is and the seal looks like it's in good condition I will reuse it. If the lid is at all crooked, I toss it.
The problem could have been how the ring was screwed on and have nothing to do with the lid.
Eat the jar now or put it in the freezer
Sweet. I'll take a look at the lid and see if I can try it again. If not, I'll move it immediately to bread.
Thanks!
I'm super paranoid with canning and would not reuse the lid. I'd just stick the jam in the fridge, eat it now, and toss the lid when I was done with the jam.
