baby blanket size?

What size would you recommend for a crochet baby blanket? To start I've got about 31in in length. What size should I try for completed length and width?

Thanks!

Re: baby blanket size?

  • It really depends. I'm making a 36"x36" right now and it seems like a good size. Do you want it to be a blanket that the kid can carry around or a bigger one that mostly stays in the crib/on the rocker/etc?

That's what I was trying to figure out. I think I'm going to go with 31x31. I appreciate the reply! I don't have kids and I've never made a blanket before so I didn't know what the "norm" was on size for a baby blanket.

  • I'm making one now that's about 36" wide, planning on square or slightly longer.  I think that's a nice size because it's big enough to sleep under for a small child and easy to carry around as they get older.  I've seen much smaller ones though, used as swaddle blankets, etc., so I think if it looks right to you, it's fine. :)
