FHA appraisal back

And it appraised for 4k more than asking price, woohoo!!

The only thing that needs to be repaired before they'll sign off on the loan is the window sill has chipped paint and the siding has chipped paint by the rafters. The cost to repair they estimated at $500 - so apparently we have to have this done and then pay FHA inspector another couple hundred bucks to come back out and re-inspect the work.

I wish we could just sign off and say "yes, we'll do this." and then do it at our leisure when it isn't pouring down rain outside, but a nice sunny day... LOL.

Re: FHA appraisal back

  • That's a great news!!! Are you guys going to pay for the repairs or will the sellers do this?

  • I'm not sure. I mean, it's the ONLY thing they found with the home, and I'm hoping even though the seller listed the home "As is" - maybe he will be willing to repair it?

To be honest, it isn't the most awful thing to have to take care of by ourselves, it just sucks having to pay for the appraiser to come back out and say "yep, it's been painted." LOL.

I kind of want to run over there tonight with a sander and paint myself and just do it. That's how anxious I am to get it over with haha.

Oh, I'd feel the same way, wanting to do it right away! It's only $500 so either way somebody will be willing to do this and you guys will get the loan! Did you guys also have an inspector or was the appraiser also an inspector?

Im jealous though, our inspector found $12,000 worth of repairs that needed to be done!

We had a home inspection about two weeks ago, and then the appraisal came after that. The home inspection revealed nothing shocking, really - the pipes are older and may need to be replaced within the next 10 years, same with the roof. But nothing that stood out drastically. This is a very basic, little house (under 1,000 square feet).

I really can't believe how this turned out, I was bracing for a bunch of needed repairs and that didn't end up being the case... I feel super lucky!!
