I purchased the Garnier BB cream last week on impuse since I stopped at Walgreen's while running errands. I figured it was probably a waste of money, but couldn't help it! I have slightly oily skin, I ocassionalybreakout but my biggest concern is hyperpigmentation and a couple of old acne scars. I've used it for the past 4 days.
Day 1-I wore it alone (after putting on my normal EltaMD sunblock). I thought it made my skin shiny and it smoothed out some of the discoloration slightly. I reapplied a little later on since we were going outside for a walk. I didn't think the coverage really built up much. It was find to wear around the house.
Day 2- I applied sunblock and then the BB cream. It didn't provide as much coverage as I like to go out with, so I used my concealer (MUFE) under my eyes and on areas of hyperpigmentation. I also put on blush. I went to the park and felt the coverage was ok for running errands, etc... it made my face shiny, but not too greasy.
Day 3-I wore the BB cream as a primer and used concealer and a light layer of foundation and blush. I felt pretty comfortable with this for work. My face was kind of shiny, but not too much. I felt my makeup lasted most of the day and looked ok at the end of the day.
Today- I added MUFE powder to set my make up and to remove some of the shine. I'm curious to see how I look at the end of the day.
So my final review--it's an ok product. It doesn't save me time and the SPF isn't as high as I would like to wear alone without layering a physical sunscreen over top of it since I have melasma. I do kind of like the glowy look that I get, but as it gets warmer this summer, I wonder if it'll be too much. Plus, I wonder if this will eventually cause breakouts. I'll probably wear this occasionally on the weekends.
I think I'll move on to Missha or one of the more authentic BB creams.
Re: Garnier BB cream review-longish
I wore it for about 4 days as well and it was just ok for me but I do think it caused me to majorly break out, although it could be the new face wash regimen I started. I stopped using it and will continue with my face regimen to see if I clear up. I have really oily skin and it seemed kind of greasy to my all day, but now that I'm back to my regular foundation I'm finding maybe it wasn't that different. I wish it worked though because I'm not sure I want to spend $ on the better kinds.
I have a few tiny bumps on my chin--I thought it was from doing a lactic acid peel on Sunday, but maybe it's from the BB cream?
I have not had any problems at all and I've been using it almost 2 wks. I tend to breakout on my chin and around my mouth and I've had no issues with breaking out.
Exactly this. I usually set it with a powder and I find that its lasts all day for me and I really like the coverage.
All these reviews are great! A friend of mine has been on the fence on this product for a while and the reviews helped her decide to skip it. I gave it a try and ended up using the darker of the two shades. When I use my gradual tanner, this color is perfect on my skin so during the warmer months it's great. I don't wear foundation daily as I WFH. BUT I do venture out in public during the week for quick trips to the store or a dinner with the family at a local restaurant. I don't really want to put on my nice foundation and do up my makeup for those outtings but I also don't feel great with no makeup. This was a perfect in between for me. I dust a bit of powder over the top to knock out a bit of the shine and off I go. Very nice coverage, feels nice on my skin. I don't wear it daily and am not sure if it would cause breakouts on me. For the way I use it, it's the perfect product! I do think more shades would be a good thing and maybe toning down the initial scent but overall, for the price, it's great!!
I have the Garnier BB Cream too and have been wanting to like it - but I'm not 100% sure yet.
I picked it up last week and have used it everyday since. I normally don't wear foundation, just Clinique lotion and Clinique Superpowder Double Face Makeup (this is purely out of laziness, not because my skin is great). At first the BB cream made my forehead get all bumpy - and I NEVER breakout, then I ended up with dry, flaky patches near my hairline - I think my face is finally getting used to my new routine and has settled down some now. I have to set the BB cream with powder and I still feel like it slides around on my face - I can't imagine not setting this cream.
I think I'm fully on the BB Cream bandwagon, I just need to find something that works for me. I just ordered Missha BB Cream in 21, can't wait for it to come.
