So yesterday I went to check the listings for the area we are looking at and the freeway house was back on the market (the bank had accepted a cash offer on Friday night). I was so excited and managed to make an appointment to see it last night.
We got there an hour before our realtor because we wanted to check the outside before it got dark. Right away we knew that it wasn't going to work. The traffic from the freeway was so loud, we couldn't even hold a conversation outside. A big sell of the house based on the online listing, was the patio and the deck, which you couldn't really use becaue of the noise. We really did love the house and the floor plan, but there was no way we could deal with the sound.
Thought it was fate that it came back on the market, but now I know why it came back on the market. Oh well, on to the next one.
Thank you for all of your advice!
Re: Final Update on Freeway House (promise!)
Sometimes it takes going to a place to really see how it will be. I do feel you, because we had our share of disappointments-we were so excited to see a house and when we got there, totally different than what we expected.
Glad you found out and can continue the search!
I hate that feeling. We have looked at some many houses online that just look perfect and wonderful but then when you get there the roof that looked new in the pictures is falling apart, the street that didn't look bad is packed with cars, the nice grass lot next to the house is really an unkempt neighborhood park.
I'm sure you will find another house that you love and it will be perfect for you!

This exactly. Now you can move on and not be thinking about a place you missed out on. It's good you got to see it and will help you put other properties in perspective!
