Working out through an injury?

I sprained my foot jogging the other day (stupid curb got in the way of my foot.) Just when I was getting back on track with workouts/health I can't workout right now. The doctor said at least one week off, but I'm hoping that in week 2 i can do some upper body only stuff. Any tips? Tricks? Good non-foot using workouts?

For reference I've been doing 5-6 days a week of boxing/kickboxing and jogging 2-3 times a week in the evenings. The boxing/kickboxing classes are sort of cross-fit like.

  • You could probably use a spin/exercise bike at a high cadence- barely rest your feet on the pedal, and spin fast.

That sounds like the recipe for a knee injury

  • Actually I started cycling when knee issues left me able to run. By not putting much pressure on the pedals(not trying to mimic a climb) it's low impact.
