Help me choose a paint color for our kitchen (PIPs)

Note: I do not live here.  I must choose a color from 2000 miles away.  So, this is not the easiest task...

Our living room is Porpoise by Behr (please ignore the stupid way the realtor set out the chairs.  Realtors do that in this area..it's weird)

and the dining room that is connected is Ralph Lauren Chamois

  • I like the Porpoise color.  Also, I definitely think painting that kitchen is the right choice.  Hopefully you attract a buyer soon!

Do you think that'd be too much grey since the floors are grey?  Maybe a shade lighter than the porpoise...ugh, this is hard!

  • It's so sad that buyers can't see past that color!  I love it!

I would go for whichever color is darker to make the cabinets pop more.  Otherwise it may look very bland.

Good luck!  I hope you get an offer soon!!!

I'm convinced buyers in this area are boooorrring.  I think we are going to go with "wheat bread" by behr.  We had the shade lighter (Parisian Taupe) in our guest room when we first moved there.  So, we are at least familiar with the color/tone.  I'm going to call the handy man tomorrow.  Lesigh...

  • I only wish I had a picture of my friend's old condo.  No lie...blue walls, green trim and brick red doors.   She thought she was being very trendy but it looked horrible and I can get past color.  But she did eventually sell in a buyer's market!
  • I don't think you'd have to worry about too much gray with porpoise because the gray of the floors and the walls would be broken up by the white cabinets and backsplash. But really, I think either porpoise or wheat bread would work just fine.

I hope you guys find it makes a difference with the buyers!

  • Benjamin Moore Labrador Blue (It's the color of the Modern Family foyer).

Pretty sure this would be too bold.  The buyers in this area really can't handle color. Which is sad.  Because I love color, and I love this one!

    DUH! :P

I think that will be a nice color. I would see if he can test swatch it (if possible) and show you a pic before he goes all over. Then you can see how it looks against the cabinets and the floor.

That is a bright green, so I'm not surprised people are commenting on it. I worry about our bathroom and it's tiffany blue!

  • I love that green, though I agree with painting. What color is it?

Boring as it may be, I think that's a good color. Hey, all that matters is selling it, right?

  • I think the Wheat Bread will look nice.  I was going to suggest Benjamin Moore's Cotswald, which is similar.  And yeah, it may be boring but I think you'll get more interest in the house once that kitchen is painted.

  • your house looks beautiful. that green seems totally random with that kitchen.

I would do porpoise or wheatbread. I really think this will help - it's a beautiful house so hopefully it will sell soon!
