Re: ***GOZF****

  • I know, right?

Things I have learned since Friday:

    1.  SO seethes with the unsaid.

    2.  When given the opportunity to voice real opinions, SO explodes.

    3.  Reading comprehension is not everyone's forte.

    4.  People are a lot more frustrated with one another then they let on.

So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.

Yes  I wonder...if we weren't quite so supportive as a rule, would the occasional call-outs be less severe, since they wouldn't be fermenting beneath the surface for so long?  *shrug*  Who knows?!

  • I agree, Scooby.  And I don't think that calling someone out is necessarily unsupportive.  It's all about intent and tone.

I know there are a handful -- hell maybe even a majority -- of people on here who think I suck, because I will call people out when something doesn't add up to me.  But if everyone did that more often, and tried to keep it respectful, maybe things wouldn't fester quite so much?

I dunno!  What do I know, anyway?!

Agreed. And I think tone is a HUGE part. I went back and re-read my second post to FF and can see how others (who don't know me IRL) would perceive that I was being rude or mean (which certainly was NOT my intention). But I see how you could read it in several different manners. Again, goes back to it being the internet and not being able to control how others perceive things.

GOZF, I think you are right though that people are obviously dying to say things to one another so maybe we should try it more often (?) as long as it was respectful. And as for you sucking, I am on Team GOZF. However, I do still like JM-ha!

  • You're allowed to like JM!

JM is sometimes hilarious, and sometimes he squicks me out.  I take him on a post-by-post basis.  I will say, though, that he's extremely good-natured and seems to have grown to actually care about a lot of the people on this board -- and both of those things are great.

I love that you call people out, and I definitely don't think you suck. You're never mean about it, you're just straightforward about it. I think people either perceive you incorrectly, or are giant tw@ts. Maybe both.

Thank you!  I really do think that my tone is lost on a lot of people here.  I am a nice person, I swear to god!  I'll ask questions, but I'm not always being shi!tty.  Sometimes, I am.  But not always!

  • This thread (and some others recently) makes me really curious to create 2 polls...one about what people think of JM and one about what people think of GOZF.  But that would be juvenile and very HS.  So I won't.  But my perception is that the majority would vote for liking both of you.

I won't lie.  I thought about this, too!

And truly, my feelings wouldn't be hurt of a majority doesn't much care for me.  I like quite a few people here, and I'm pretty sure that's reciprocated in most cases -- and even if that weren't true, I do think my perspective can be interesting and/or helpful, so I'd continue to post regardless.

I'd be pretty disappointed if you quit posting! Sometimes you seem to be the only voice of reason.
