Transition from treadmill to outdoors?
I'm a newbie runner on wk 8 of C25K. I'm booked for my first 5K on May 6th. I've been training on our treadmill, and know that going outdoors will be more challenging, and plan to start this week (possibly/hopefully tonight, depending on family situation). Any tips for the transistion? Should I aim to do the 33min I am doing on the treadmill now, just really slowly? Should I just wing it and see how far I can go? Should I switch to a Galloway approach and do 2min run, 1min walk and see how that feels?

You might actually be surprised about the transition. I find outdoor much easier because the treadmill drives me bonkers and I like being able to see that I'm moving. Are you currently running with any incline? Keeping the treadmill at say an incline of 1 throughout your run and bumping it up here and there can help prepare you for outdoors.
I would plan out a route and try to run it all, but allow yourself to walk if you feel like you need it. Good luck!

I run indoors pretty much all winter for a spring half marathon. Whee. I ran a fairly respectable long slow distance pace the one time I week I did run outside from December-March.
This week I transitioned to running outdoors during the week for my spring/summer training. I'm easily running a minute per mile faster outside, on hilllz, than I was on the track/tread all winter.
Get out there and surprise yourself
I agree with what some of the above posters said. It may not be as difficult as you think because it's so exhilirating just being outside after being stuck on a treadmill. I've been on the 'mill for over six months (stupid Alaska winter), so I'm DYING to get outside for a run! Hopefully in the next week or two.
THIS! I run inside in the winter and hate it. But by the end of the winter when I am transitioning outside it is really hard to get used to running outside again. But within a few runs I am back to loving it. And Seriously, no matter what I do inside on the TM, I am a full 45-1:45 faster per mile outside than I ever am inside on the TM! Go outside, don't think too much about it, and enjoy yourself!
