I got a couple samples from Sephora the other day - The Korres Pomegrante matte treatment and the Murad hybrid matte primer.
I wanted to like the Korres. It smelled great, but did nothing. I tried it yesterday, and even though I barely did anything yesterday, I was still super shiny.
Today I tried the Murad primer...again, it did nothing and it doesn't compare to the Murad SPF 15 mattefying lotion. I do think it is a good overall primer, but the shade was slightly darker than what I needed (and it only comes in one shade).
That said, I just ordered this - I have had good luck with some DDF products before, so I thought I'd give this a go. I can return it if it doesn't meet expectations.

Otherwise, I am giving up and sticking with my Murad lotion for the rest of this hot summer.
I also got a 100 pt gift of the Cover FX acne, mattefying primer...so I will give that a go too. I love the Cover FX foundation, but didn't like the original primer, so maybe I will like this one better.
Re: Ok, updates on my "mission to be matte."
Please tell me about the Cover Fx foundation, it's been in my shopping cart at Sephora forever but I keep passing it up to save money. Does it provide good coverage? I don't have acne, but I do have oily skin/larger pores and need to cover up hyperpigmentatin.
I'm on the fence about the MOM...If I change my mind I will update.
Do you know if it smells badly? lol
I don't think I've ever used it for anything before, but I did google to learn about it's use as a mattifier. One review said to be sure to buy the unflavored version, lol.
I also saw this, which is funny.

So I've gotta try it. I'm still peeling a bit from a chemical peel, but as soon as I'm done peeling, I'm trying the MOM.
I didn't like the Korres primer either. I just picked up the FX 100 point perk.
I did like the Korres Wild Rose Vitamin C night stuff though.
I am also on a quest to find a good primer. I do like the Porefessional by Benefit. I didnt' like it at first.
I'm interested to hear what you think of the 100 point perk one.
I am crazy oily. Like within an hour of washing my face, the oil is showing. I've tried a lot of products but none of the ones you mentioned. I've liked Clinique's T-Zone Mattifier (but it's been discontinued) and Origins also makes a similar one but it's a liquid. Another awesome one is Cosmedicine's Medi-matte. Sephora used to carry it but it doesn't look like they carry that line anymore. The product is funny because it isn't instant. It takes about 5 minutes before I'm matte. But it works well!
However, one thing I've noticed that has dramatically decreased my oil production? Using the oil-cleansing method (jojoba + castor oil) and jojoba oil to moisturize.
I don't usually come to this board, but I"m going to jump in on the MOM topic. I haven't used it under my makeup, but I have used it many times as a facial mask when I'm starting to break out a lot. I have even, in emergencies, slept in it. It makes a HUGE difference in my skin. It's crazy. It really helps me stay more matte during the day, b/c it seems to absorb so much oil.
(To sleep in it, I snuck in the bathroom after DH went to sleep, then jumped out of bed in the AM to wash it off. No need to let ALL the romance in our lives die.)
