"Hip, upscale attire is mandatory" WW you wear?
Hi all...I don't post here usually but I figured this was a good place to go for suggestions. DH and I are going to NY next week for a live taping of the America's Got Talent audition show (DH is a huge Howard Stern fan). On our ticket, the dress code state "Hip, upscale attire is mandatory". What would you wear (and what would you want your DH/SO to wear?) Keep in mind that we'll be taking a 3 hour bus ride there, walking around NY and possibly waiting in line for 1-2+ hours. Bonus points for links or pics!! Thank you!
ETA: As of now the 10-day forecast shows 58 degrees and showers.
Re: "Hip, upscale attire is mandatory" WW you wear?
For you a silk tank top, blazer, and skinny jeans, you can either wear boots or booties with some heel, or if you are wearing flats, have a pair of high heels in your purse and change out.
For your DH, designer dark denim and button down shirt with a blazer with fashoinable sneakers like pumas or old school adidas.
If you can change before you go, it's best. Because I think any wonderful outfit, will look tired after 3 hour bus ride and sightseeing!!
I definitely would not bring a change of clothes with me. It would be a PITA to carry around, and bags that are large enough to carry clothes may not be allowed in. You don't need to look like you just walked off the runway -- the producers just want to make sure that when they quickly pan out to the audience everyone looks presentable.
I wouldn't wear heels because they'll be a PITA to walk around in/carry around, and unless you're in the front row (and even if), the chances of your feet making it on camera are pretty slim anyway.
This isn't the Boom Boom Room -- it is a taping of a tv show. It isn't going to draw a fashionable crowd (which is probably why they're trying to tell people to look nice).
ditto. At most, they are going to pan the audience and it doesn't really matter if you are oh so hip. lol They probably just don't want people in sweats.
When I've gone to tapings before when I lived in LA, we always wore dark denim, silk tops, some sort of blazer or motorcycle jacket (you never know how cold it's going to be in the theater), and heels. Cute flats would be totally fine too.
For your DH, just dark denim and a button down, and nicer looking shoes.
as a new yorker, i will tell you that "hip attire mandatory" translates directly to, "please, for the love of god, do not look like a tourist."

I agree with both Txbride and Emyinpink.
DH listens to Howard all the time too and he always talks about how they move people around in the audience based on looks. Since you already have a ticket to get in, I am guessing that how you are dressed will help you get a better seat.
Yup.
