Re: Flame-worthy. Shame me.

  • For better or worse, the bar was raised on "flameworthy" and shaming today.
  • Does it make a difference that I am also a fatty?  Come on, somebody spank me.... Devil

  • I need clarification, is this one that you get nicotine hits from?
A big old middle finger to you, stupid Nest.
  • Yes.  It's the 'light'.  The next lower one is an ultra-light.  I used to smoke ULs so I've actually moved up.  Except you don't smoke continually.  You take a drag, put it down, then pick it up whenever so maybe it's still less than I used to.  No smell.  A friend of ours has this kind that's more like a cigar, and you can put some kind of oil or something in it so it actually smells nice.

  • Shall I post the article about a guy getting his face blown off by one of these?

Safety tip, don't retrofit it to put out more nicotine that it's designed too. Tongue Tied

I bought one of these for work and sometimes like to smoke it around the office because it freaks my boss out (we have the no nicotine cartridges).

  • So you weaned yourself off nicotine, and now you're back to using it in a higher dose? Yeah, I could get traction with that flame.

  • I didn't wean.  I stopped.  My plan for quitting was "I'm allowed to smoke whenever I want after X amount of time.  Or only under Y circumstances.  And I can have one per drink."   Then when I actually did, it was usually one I bummed that was not my brand.  So I didn't really enjoy it.  Eventually, DH's friend and I couldn't even get through a single shared cigarette without insisting the other one finish it.  This solves the 'I don't want a whole cigarette' issue.  Also the tar issue.  And the smell, and the stain.

  • But you're addicting yourself to a completely useless drug that is extremely hard to quit that you've already kicked once.  Talk about something really stupid.

    (Remember, you asked for this!)

If it makes you feel any better, you really aren't getting as much nicotine as you think.  You only really inhale about 40% of the amount it says on the cartridge.  I read that on the e-cigarette forum, which linked to an article, but I wouldn't know where to find it now.

My husband and I quit smoking with e-cigs.  I stopped that too when I got pregnant and haven't gone back.  He still uses it.  It's his geeky hobby thing now.

ETA: Nicotine by itself, without all the other crap in cigarettes, isn't really all that bad for you.  True, you don't really get anything out of it, but there are certainly worse chemicals to be addicted to.

Oh, that is fantastic. This...this is wine. Yeah. Look what all these idiots are drinking. Look at these dicks! Obviously it's not really delicious, like hot chocolate or Coke, but for wine...brilliant.

  • I used to have a cigarette socially every so often, usually while drinking. Then I had a lot of expensive dental work, including an implant, and I stopped because of the possible effects of smoking on my teeth. I do NOT want to pay for another implant if this one fails. And now, 3+ years later, I don't even like the smell. But a friend of mine had an e-cigarette with watermelon tobacco. I don't even like watermelon, but that was damn tasty. It didn't have the burning/ashes feel of cigarettes at all.

  • Mmmmm.....watermelon. I tried chocolate orange at the hookah bar. It was delicious. I wonder if they're flavored as well in e-format. :::sigh::: This thread is not working like I'd expected.

i'll chime in today to beat your ass.  stop that ish now.

  • I love e-cigs, I used mine to quit smoking real cigarettes over 2 years ago. I can't flame ya for this. ;)

IMO, picking up the ecig is a lot healthier than going out and picking up a cigarette. Yes
