Painted the guest bathroom yesterday and need some advice please :D

I painted it navy blue and it has a white chair rail with white wainscoating. I have white blinds and a white shower curtian and all of the hardware is brushed nickel. I am wondering about what color rug/ valance I should go with. I am a little bit worried it is trending towards a nautical theme, which is not what I am going for, so I would like to prevent that. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I have pictures but I'm not quite sure how to upload them...

  • I always like lime green and navy. Orange and navy is fun too but it's not for everyone.

Certain shades of purple and navy can be cute as well.

    Yellow could be another option.

Navy is pretty neutral actually so just avoid the red and you'll have no problem avoiding nautical.

  • You have so many options that would lead away from a nautical theme.

I'm liking orange or apple green with navy. If you google navy and orange rooms, you will find a lot of images.

  • I like light blue or sea green with navy and white...or a soft gray.

  • I like the idea of yellow because it will give the room a pop of color. Try looking on google for blue and yellow or blue and another color bedroom ideas. It will give you an idea of what the colors together might look like.

  • Maybe add some pop. Yellow, bright green and some geometric pattern.
  • I always pull accent colors from accessories. Maybe you can find an accent towel or something for the counter that has that color plus another?

I'll try and google once I'm done with my tasks for the day and get to the point where I'd welcome a screwdriver in my ear for entertainment. (Happens every day.)

  • To get away from the nautical look, go with a bright non nautical color.   When my SIL moved into her home.  Her bathroom was already painted navy blue with white tile.  She loves the blue and added a bubble gum pink shag rug with a gigantic pink rose shower curtain.  B insisted on white towels.  She also had a pumpkin orange rug with an orange polka dot shower curtain.  Currently, she has a sunflower shower curtain with sunflower yellow rug.
  • well I love the base of the navy, white, and brushed metal...

I was going to say orange, but after reading the other posts I would say Lime green...in a year or so you could trade out this pop color completely or even be seasonal about it

or it would be pretty if you could find a navy/white damask

    what about brown

    this is pretty

    sorry for the random thoughts

  • Thank you all so much for the great ideas! I think I am just going to see what I can find, I love the idea of using a bright accent color!
