Thin folk. Shopping question
I am very small. I am only 4'11" and many store have vanity sized me out. Where the hell are tiny people supposed to find shorts that even remotely fit?

Re: Thin folk. Shopping question
petite section?
Also - I've known some shorter women to shop in the kids section. I don't really recommend this normally but maybe for shorts it would be ok?
my read shelf:
Shop in the kids' section, obviously.
But really, can you hem petite clothes?
I'd check out these blogs for some resources:

Hmmm, kids is out b/c you're actually a woman, not a kid. That means Japanese clothing is probably out, too.
How hard are shorts to make? I'm serious, I'd probably find a good tailor if I were your size.

I learned how to make boxer shorts in 7th grade home-ec. I could just find me a sewing machine and rock out in some of those
In kids clothes. And places like forever 21.
I wouldn't call myself "thin" but I'm also really short and have trouble with shorts being too tight in the thigh area when they fit my waist but too big in the waist when they fit my thighs... I've had success with JCrew's 4in Chino Shorts and Loft shorts like these. I've also cut jeans to make into shorts out of desperation and they're my favorites, lol.

This. You just have to make sure that the store you visit does have a petite section, because there are a handful that don't. Also, the size 0 there is more like a 2 elsewhere, the 2 more like a 4, etc. It's the only place where I wear (uh, wore, before I was pregnant) a 00P.

I think it is like this everywhere now - J Crew, Banana Republic, 7's. My pre-pregnancy size 0 clothes are still a little snug across the hips, but everything I've bought since having DS is a 00. The first time I went shopping after having DS I was shocked to see that a size 0 fit. I didn't buy anything thinking I had a closet full of clothes I hadn't worn in years. Then I got home and was dropping F-bombs left and right while trying them on.
And I agree about making sure they have a good petite section. Some stores have a tiny little corner, while others have 1/4 of the store.
Wait, maybe that should have gone into #fwp.
Back when I was skinnier, I used to stick to juniors type stores like Aeropostale and such. The idea of walking into an Abercrombie and Fitch gives me the willies but places like that would be where I'd start.
If you're interested in sewing www.burdastyle.com has a downloadable pattern for Ruby shorts that I'm currently working on.

Ann Taylor Loft and Ann Taylor carry 00P (but only online now). I'm just under 5 ft and 85 lbs (which I'm only sharing to commiserate), and they work sometimes, and when they don't they only need small alterations. Honestly, 90% of my clothing is from them.
