Please help me find a bolero for a wedding.

I need a gray bolero for my sister's wedding.  We're wearing Alfred Angelo 7181 in victorian lilac:

It should not be a knit sweater.  I need a 1/2 - 3/4 length (no babydoll sleeve).  My sister would prefer something that has an actual sleeve and a little structure at the shoulder.

I found this, but she's going to say it's too silver.  She likes the "Disney villain collar" as a rule.  I don't, but whatever - I'm more concerned about sleeves.  Actually this would probably be perfect except it's shiny, and she won't have it.

Also, I need a plus size.  Jackets are anwhere from a 20 - 26, depending on sleeve, cut, and textile.

Re: Please help me find a bolero for a wedding.

  • What's your price range and when is the wedding?

Because etsy has this but it's more expensive than I personally would pay.

If you have the time, you could search boleros on etsy and see if one of the sellers will make you one in the color/fabric combo you're looking for.

  • That's gorgeous, but it costs more than the dress did.  Wedding is July 27.  Price range....I guess it depends on what the jacket is.  $50 is a lot, but not out of the question.

I'm sure I bought this pattern

but I cannot for the life of me find it anywhere.

  • If you're not real pressed for time, find a seamstress, get some organza that matches the skirt and have one made.

One with a Queen Anne neckline should look fabulous --- it's very similar to the one that's in the photo.

Any long sleeve jacket can be cut to a 3/4 sleeve length.
