Stupid Newbie Question

I have horrific allergy issues, like to the point where I want to cut my head off because it feels like its been in a vice for the last week. I worked out on Friday and it felt fine during the workout but when I was done, my head was stuffed worse then before and no matter what I take, it has not gotten any better and I have not worked out since. I feel like such a slacker. I normally workout 6 days a week but I have just been so tired and I cannot breathe through my nose at all. Here comes the stupid question part: Would you continue to workout with the hope that it might help or rest? TIA.

Re: Stupid Newbie Question

  • I would go to allergist and/or ENT and get some relief! I can not imagine that working out while you are not breathing properly can do you cany good. You are just going to get tired much quicker and not be able to recover.

Take it from a severe allergy sufferer, there are things that can help. I was tested, given shots, and 2 prescription pills + a couple of nasal sprays. When that didn't work, he did some more concoctions, and so on.

The final cure for me was tonscilectomy and sinus surgery. Turns out I had a cyst blocking my entire left maxillary sinus therefore, it was never draiing properly. I also had a septoplasty to fix my crocked septum while he was there. Now I only take zyrtec in the sring to combat the itchy eys... all my other symptoms are gone! Can't belive it took me 29 years of suffering to get it fixed!

  • Yep...head to the allergist or ENT. You can get a recommendation from your PCP/Family Doctor.

    This!

    (What I did)

I actually had this problem this year too. It is because Spring came around so darn early no one was prepapred for it. I usually do not have any issues with allergies except when nature is on steroids. I actually went and picked up a homeopathic product (-heel) called allergy. It does just that. Would I recommend you do the same? No because you are not breathing and all I had was runny nose and watery, acrid eyes.

  • What they all said!  Also, I often get itchy hives when I exercise outside so the gym is better for me.  As I get older my allergies are less in my nose/head and more skin issues.  My derm told me that dry skin can make the itchies worse so I try to use lots of lotion.  Also, try taking an allergy med like Allegra every day to prevent feeling like crud.  Sometimes preventing a reaction is easier than stopping one.
