We have found the perfect house and are under contract. We are waiting for the bank to process everything. Does the home insurance company need any documentation? If so, what do they ask for? This is our first home purchase...TIA!
Re: House Insurance Question
Have you already reached out for a quote? We went to our auto insurance company (Geico) first to see if we could get a better rate by bundling. We were expecting to pay around $1,200 per year and they wanted $2,300. NEXT.
I asked our mortgage broker for a recommendation and her referred me to the company that we're going with. I gave them the address and they pulled it up in their system. They asked a bunch of questions about the house's features, so it's probably better to do it after inspection if you haven't already done that part. The insurance broker then shopped around for us and found us a great rate and then bundled it with our auto insurance.
Once we picked a company, she mailed the contract and we signed and returned. Because that company had worked with our mortgage broker before they already had the bank's requirements. So far they've worked all the other paperwork among themselves.
