Nude Pumps "illiterate"

I have wanted nude pumps for the longest but I am scared to look because I have yet to find any for african-american skin. Help!

Re: Nude Pumps "illiterate"

  • I get what you are saying, but you realize that "nude" pumps aren't the color of caucasion skin either right? I think nude is a color in itself, it's not like foundation where you match your skin tone. It may be a poorly named color, since nude skin for many people is not that light, but it's just that, just the name of a color. A woman I work with is african american and she wears nude pumps all the time, and I think they look really nice on her.
  • You could try darker shades like these:

    option 1

    option 2

    option 3

I know about the color nude but for some reason, when I see stuff like the Today show and they have the models with the nude pumps. . . sometimes they are almost the same color but as the title says I am super iliterate when it comes to these pumps. I want to wear them but totally scared I will not look to well put together.

Just gotta take a risk right?

Well, I'd argue that nude shoes are definitely geared towards the color of lighter skinned women.

Nude implies no clothing, or in this case shoes. So, a color close to a skin tone would achieve that look. This doesn't work for black women. They wouldn't be called "nude" for darker skinned black women, more like beige, taupe, tan.

If you think of band-aids, similar concept.
