Newbie Intro

Okay so I've lurked/posted a bit for a few days and I figure it's time to throw myself out there. I hate these things though...

Uh..I'm 27 and I manage the front desk at a hotel. I'm getting married in a month. I live with my fiance and my best friend in a rickety trailer that shakes when the wind blows. I have partial custody of a long hair chihuahua (he stays with my mom because she got super attached) and we have a monster cat living with us.

Eventually I want children, haven't been blessed yet. I want 5, fiance wants 1..I'm waiting to knock him out with the surprise of twins. lol

I like going through the posts around here. Sometimes you guys are a bit harsh but more often then not it's just plain funny. Not sure what else to post really...I'm open to questions though if any.

Oh yeah...and I usually go by Bri. :D

  • Hello, definitely hop in on the conversation instead of just lurking.

I like the cat in your sig.

Thanks. He reminds me of my monster...before he was the monster.

The monster is currently tearing from one end of our trailer to the other. His name is Chewy btw. lol

  • I can't believe I forgot to mention the girls! I have two baby rats, Zombie and Corpsie. They're sweet and smart little things and I adore them. They're currently tapping their food bowl to gain my attention. lol

  • I'm going to use your intro to sneak mine in.  I was hoping to just start posting because I hate intros, but this makes it a little easier.  :)

Let's see.  I am 28, married, and I'm an attorney (wah-waaaah).  I like in the Twin Cities, and am originally from Wisconsin. (Minnesota + Wisconsin= MinneSconnie).

I had a couple of New Year's resolutions this year.  One was to take up knitting.  (I'm such an exciting person). Another was to get back in shape after two years of sitting on my butt.  I'm signed up for a half marathon in May. My other goal was to read more- this board has really inspired that. I have the Hunger Games and Game of Thrones on deck while I try to finish these stupid Sookie Stackhouse novels.  The first one was good, but the others are so over the top.  I like the HBO show better.

  • Minnie, how far are you into the Sookie Stackhouse books? They peak at #4 and get progressively worse.

  • Love the rage comics. I did say rats. Don't knock them as pets because they're actually extremely affectionate and smart. Youtube has some pretty decent videos if you ever get bored.

The name reflects our zombie obsession a bit. :P I need to read more. Currently I'm finishing a Dean Koontz book. My other hobby is finding a show I obsess over and marathoning it on Netflix until I have to wait for new episodes.

Welcome Minnie! Great intro btw. :) Minnesota/Wisconsin - Fairly similar to SD but with NFL football teams. lol

I got the 8-book boxed set and I'm somewhere in the middle. She's dating the tiger. The thing that just bugs about the books is it really reminds me of the everyone-must-love-and-want-Stephanie-Meyers-errr-Bella aspect.  Evey man she meets just can't resist her because she is oh so speshul. And I'm fine with her bouncing from bed to bed, but it seems odd given how romantically attached they make her to each guy. Pick the Northman!

    Thanks and welcome too!  :)

  • Why do you like zombies? I never understood the whole fad.

  • I'm not sure why I like them really. I think it's the whole idea of it happening. I mean some people are into vampires...that's mainly because there is a romantic side to it I think. With Zombies it's kind of like the "What would you do if you won the lottery game?"

Like me and the fiance and the roommate have survival plans. Nothing super serious like the people building shelters but basically a 'what would you do?" game. It all depends on what is CAUSING the zombie outbreak. If it's a virus that just takes over the brain the issue is that the body still lives. Still living means no stiffening of the body or rotting which means they can maintain speed which makes them much more dangerous. I'm going way too much into this I think. lmao..anyway..yeah. It's the what if aspect.

YES. They become "Sookie goes on a date with [insert supernatural character here]." Enough!

  • Is your friend going to still live with you once you are married?

Minne- I was in the twin cities last August for a few weeks and hit up the irish festival in st Paul - whiskey tasting- good times!! I actually really liked the area but don't think I could handle the winters there.

I just dry heaved at the idea of being affectionate with a rat.

We hardly had a winter this year, so I've forgotten how bad it can get. We bought our first home in September, so I haven't had to shovel in a real winter yet. Me thinks I will be buying a snowblower!  I love the area in the spring and fall- there are a ton of running trails and concert venues. Fun place to live!

  • Yes friend will be living with us when we get married. She's a good friend of both of ours. We all have the same hours/hobbies so it works pretty well. And she's at one end of the house while we're at the other.

  • Howdy, Minnie!

Zombri, you should not have mentioned the rats. I would also suggest really considering your choices/options regarding your fiance, your roommate, and your zombie obsession.

    I'm fabulous.

I think I should have snuck my intro in elsewhere.  I fear being associated with rats.
