So I accidentally found a great way to stop evening overeating...

It's spring break here, and a busy week at work for DH. So the only time I've been able to get to the gym is in the evenings, 6:30-8:30 (the only childcare time when they take kids over 5).

It's been awesome! I've had to change how I eat dinner - now I have a mini-dinner around 4:30, and then another mini meal after the gym. I'm also not feeling the same bored/need to snack in the late evenings. I'm making healthier choices and am not as hungry.

I'm also sleeping better.

If I had known how well this works, I would have switched my workout times years ago!

  • When I read the subject, I saw "overheating".  I was so confused when I read your post. lol!

Glad to hear you found something that works for you!  A friend of mine does something similar for her evening work outs.

  • I follow Weight Watchers, and I recently started using dinner as my first meal of the day for my tracking, which has helped me with night snacking. I start the day over with dinner the night before, and this makes me less likely to waste "tomorrow's" points on snacks. So far, it's really working for me! This could work for those who calorie count as well!

Lol, I read it as "to stop overreacting" And I thought, "I overreact, but I wonder what this is in reference to?   :)

To the OP, I agree, that is a great way to curve night time snacking!!

    yep overreacting here too! :)

I like night workouts too, and agree I am less likely to "bored eat" after.

  • I wish I could do that b/c I think it would help with my night snacking as well.

Alas, if I work out past 6, I'm up sooooo late.

  • What helps me is having a baby that is fussy between 5pm until about 8pm (at which time I am ready for bed!) I don't think this technique is very helpful for others though ;) Glad you found something that works!

  • I once read to only eat half of your dinner at dinner time and save the other half for when you get hungry later that night.  Good idea but food just doesn't taste as good warmed up sometimes.
  • I read this as evening overreacting! OP, great idea!
