Booking cruises - CruiseDirect vs. Orbitz vs Expedia

Do you have any preferences as to where you book? We're looking at a Canadian cruise out of Boston in July and the prices are all the same.

Re: Booking cruises - CruiseDirect vs. Orbitz vs Expedia

  • we booked ours thru a travel agent at the same price as I found on line.  I let her do all the work AND if there are any problems she is the one to handle them. I prefer that!

  • I book directly through the cruise website unless a TA or third party site offers a great on board credit or something to make it worth it.  I like being able to call the cruise line directly to make changes to my cruise (like if I have to change the date or want to change the room) rather then have to call the third party site or TA and have them do it for me.

  • I've booked twice with American Discount Cruises and Travel and have been happy both times.  They offer more onboard credit than anyone else and they will automatically update you with a better deal (more credit, lower price) if it comes along after you book.
  • If you aren't going through an agent (who will be able to price match anything online and is guaranteed), I would recommend booking directly through the cruiseline's website.

  • I always book directly through the cruiseline.

  • Costco Travel - The price was the same (or better) than all other sites and we're getting a $250 Costco card bonus back from our cruise purchase.
  • We booked with BestPriceCruises.com.  Found the best deal with them, shipboard credits too.  The customer service was friendly and helpful.  I'd definitely use them again.

  • I like cruisecompete.com. TAs "bid" on your cruise once you specify which cruise and type of room and you can basically pick the one that offers the most OBC or other perks. We've done this several times.

Otherwise I book directly through the cruise line.

  • We just booked ours on VacationsToGo.com
