Re: easter
I've never liked celebrating Easter, even as a kid. I was happy to get candy from some do-gooder bunny, and happy to help my mom carve a lamb out of butter... but I didn't like celebrating what I felt it was about.. It seemed wrong to me (I was an oddly devout child with off center views on things) We'll be with my family on Sunday. Everyone is gathering at my grandma's, so we decided we might as well. I'm sure my mom will need help cooking since grandma isn't up to it anymore (not that she could really cook lol) I'm looking forward to seeing my nephews running around in Easter clothes. Although, they're 7 now and likely rebelling.
And I don't know when Orthodox Easter is, but whenever that is, I'm sure we'll visit my other grandmother in the nursing home.
Easter was always such a fond memory as a child for me so I am happy that Ava is a little older unlike last year.
Saturday we'll dye eggs which should be very interesting haha
There was supposed to be fun stuff in our sub division that they ddi last year that we skipped but I was excited for...it was brought up about a month ago however now the president of the hoa is sue happy and has her focuses elsewhere trying to slander folks ugh drives me nuts so that won't be happening.
I thought that maybe we'd go to breakfast or brunch on Sunday but honestly I need to see how I feel first.
Ava has such a cute outfit that a lady I work with made her so it would be nice for others to see it
I need to know more about this carving a lamb out of butter. Was your mother Paula Deen?
We don't celebrate Easter at all. We did as a child, but nothing major. We just did dyed eggs & Easter baskets and then my family would come over for an egg hunt & breakfast pizza.
For some reason as an adult Easter is just the one that got knocked off the list for me. I know when we have kids we'll do the basket and stuff, but since I'm not religious at all and neither is H we kind of loose the "true meaning" type activies. I also don't like boiled eggs at all, so maybe that's why Easter got the shaft.

Baby Sister is coming soon!
I also meant to tell you guys that a friend of mine put on her Facebook the other day that she felt like her kids Easter Bunny lists were getting out of control. Apparently they've been doing lists just like Christmas for years and her 7 year old has like 3 DVDs, an Ipod, a new bike, new shoes, etc. on there. She was wondering if everyone else thought it was overboard.
SO many people replied in that it was TOTALLY overboard. She seemed kind of shocked that not one other person did Easter Bunny lists. I think maybe she's sorry she asked since she took a lot of flack for it.
do you ladies celebrate easter? Yes.
if so, what are your plans: We will spend the afternoon at my SIL's house and do the egg hunt and whatever. I wanted to somewhere else but nobody seemed to want to do anything so whatever. I used to love going to my great grandparent's ranch every year, but with all this bs happening in around the area we will not risk it. I guess it's SIL's house like every sunday.
and will your children (if applicable) be dressed in festive pastels? Not sure what she will wear but, I'm sure she has a new cute pastel dress in her closet.
what???? good lord.
No, she isn't! LOL She just managed to take a stick of butter and turn it into the shape of a lamd, complete with coloured non-pariels for the nose and eyes. I have to ask her to do it this year so I can watch her. They were adorable! I remember my Great Aunt Rose always used the "coolie" of the lamb. I thought it was hysterical as a kid!
when i saw this i immediately thought of the county fair. i.e., life size. glad it was only out of one stick! that seems more reasonable.
I use to love Easter sunrise service... not so much anymore. I'm actually pretty sure I've got my family gathering spaced out just right so I can miss church all together.
B is working all weekend b/c his new store opens TOMORROW!
Sat afternoon I'm taken Raven up to PA to give my Godson's their baskets and for her to play with their new Golden.
Sun Morning brunch at my Dad's and then the afternoon at my IL's.
Ditto, MD! EB lists?! Not my style!
For the OP-- we're taking tomorrow off and heading to Spoleto (never been). Probably just a couple nice meals, some touring the town, and the back home late Sunday.
We'll try to catch a service, but our IT is still pretty bad (obviously, we know the gist of the service, but still, I'm not mad into the service in a language other than English. Don't get me wrong-- not saying the Mass should be in English, just saying for me personally, since I'm limited to basically only speaking English, it's hard to stay for an hour plus Mass in a language I'm too stupid to understand).
