pip proof that the scale doesn't matter eta: comparison pic

I posted this on ML yesterday. But I am honestly amazed at this and thought I would share here. This dress is the one I wore for my rehearsal dinner. I weighed about 133 then and today I weigh 162. It's been in the back of my closet because I knew I had gained weight and it wouldn't fit me anymore. I haven't wanted to try it on because I figured it would be pretty depressing. Well last night I was getting another dress out and decide wtf, why not pull it out. I'm not going to say this is the best pic of me and I don't think I love the dress now. but I can't believe it fits me despite the weight difference. I want to dig out my wedding dress now, lol.

  • Holy cow, 30lbs difference?  That is seriously amazing.

  • That's awesome!

I'm trying to remind myself of this because I'm really struggling to stay under 150.  Maybe I should pull a few dresses out of the back of my closet.

  • That dress fits you great!

I weigh what I weighed at my wedding but I'm in far better shape than I was then.  I pulled out a pair of capris that I could not wear on my wedding day and they are loose.  It's amazing the difference muscle makes!

ETA:  I've told myself if I lose some more stomach flab I will pull my wedding dress on and see just how awesome I look in it.  :-)

  • Awesome!

  • This is one of the many reasons that I'm now trying to focus more on strength training.  Thanks for posting this.  I would never have guessed your weight at 162.  No way.  Amazing what a difference muscle makes.

  • That's awesome!

I have gained about 8-10 lbs. since Christmas (because of CrossFit/heavy lifting/etc.) and my clothes fit better now.

  • First, you look amazeballs in that dress.

Second, I can totally agree that the scale doesn't matter and I am so glad I am finally realizing it.  Last year around June I weighed 150 before I went to Vegas, but I wasn't doing any strength training and just running on odd days and not even that much.  I gained like 13 pounds over the next 6 months while going through our buying a house fiasco.  I had to buy bigger jean sizes and didn't go near most of my clothes.  At the beginning of January I started a boot camp class and I have been doing it ever since.  I got my bin of summer clothes out last week and decided to try to them on for my upcoming cruise.  The scale still said about 158 on most days, so I was sure they wouldn't fit but they did!!  They fit even better than they did last year.

I don't think I'm going to toss my scale, but I'm definitely going to put it away somewhere.

Been posting since 2008, now with a new name
  • This is GREAT!  Thank you so much for sharing.  You look fabulous in that dress!!!!  I have recently started back to working out and instead of just doing cardio I'm doing strength training with a personal trainer.  I have been disappointed not to see much of a result on the scale but this helps put my mind at ease!  Thanks!

  • If I could be 162 and look like you, I'd be doing cartwheels on my front lawn.

This is why it drives me nuts that people really do think that a woman who weighs over 150 if going to be at the very least chubby and out of shape. I read that once that the average man when asked what a good weight for a woman is, said 125.

this is proof that the 160's is still a good weight for many women. A friend of mine who runs is usually between 160-165 and she is in fantastic shape. She said nobody ever believes her weight because she's so thin.

  • I'm 5' 8", I will have to see if I can find a before photo, it would be nice to see them side by side.

Swap out 128 with 145 and ITA.

  • Someone asked for a comparison, here is it. I was 7 younger and I do think I look skinnier back then. But I feel okay with myself today too- I've given birth twice since then damnit.
