Hunger Game Movie. Have you seen it?

I saw it and I was wondering what you guys thought about it. I love Jennifer as Katniss and I always have had this huge crush on Lenny so it was great to see him in this movie.

  • No, because we haven't got a sitter and I hate my life I'm so upset about this.

No because I boycott movies if I've read the book.

  • I didn't read the books, so I have no comparison for the characters, but I thought the movie was so-so. I felt like the sad parts weren't that sad, and I was completely unmoved by what should have been a very emotional and touchy topic. I cry pretty much every week watching Grey's anatomy, which is totally ridiculous. Children killing children should have made me cry and it didnt, so I consider it a movie fail. Other than the inability to get me emotionally attached (and I am really a big cry baby), I thought the movie was well made, well acted and interesting. It was just missing something that I cannot put my finger on.

p.s. Lenny Kravitz is absolutely beautiful. ?

  • You should read the books. I couldnt put them down.

I think the movie failed in some parts to capture the emotion from the book. However, I was happy that they were faithful to the book and I did cry at some parts.

  • Yup. I thought the books were amazing. I tend to get emotionally involved in books and then get bitter and angry every time a movie doesn't live up to my high standards.

I thought the movie was ok, didn't love it and thought some of the choices they made were pretty horrible but I wasn't appalled.

And yes... Lenny Kravitz is so pretty!

  • I saw it opening weekend with DH. I like it... DH thought it was too cruel and unrealistic. (From the man who loves conspiracy and post apocalyptic storylines).

I read the books over a year ago so I wasn't to critical on book vs movie.

  • I enjoyed it and DH thought it was better than he expected (he didn't read the books but I have).

  • Loved the books, but was unimpressed with the movie.

I felt like they did a really good job casting most of the characters, although I'm still slightly undecided about Peeta. I really liked the rest of the cast though, which is a rarity for me when it comes to casting a movie based on a book.

But I felt they really failed to capture the emotion of the book and I was not pleased with some of the changes they made. The book was far more powerful.

If you pay for the commute, I'll be happy to babysit so you can have a night (or two) out.

I don't mind being held to a higher standard; I mind being held to a lower one. (Sam Seaborn, The West Wing)

  • No, I'm busy reading the first book. Not sure I'll want to see it after that though as I'm liking the book a lot & will probably be very disappointed...
  • I hadn't even heard of the books or movie til a few weeks ago then I started seeing it everywhere. What's it about and hpw many books are there? Is it worth the read-as much as I've been seeing about it I guess that's an obvious question.

I  don't even know how to explain it really. There are three books and they were written for young adults. The story is still great for adults too. Basically the country is separated into different districts after a giant war. The Capital controls them all and holds the Hunger Games each year to remind them of their past when they were not at peace. A boy and girl from each district are chosen to fight to the death.
