@ Anyone have experience with Reglan
My milk supply still sucks and I'm only able to give P about 1 oz. every 3 hours.
My MW gave me Reglan to boost production, but I'm nervous about taking it when I have to return to work in 4 weeks.
Should I even start taking it? Ugh. I don't know what to do.
Re: @ Anyone have experience with Reglan
What have you tried thus far?
You may have already tried this, but oatmeal and apple juice for breakfast helped me. And hard apple cider dramatically kicked up my supply, which I found out on accident.
if you are going to be pumping at work anyway it shouldn't be a problem. Its way easier to ramp down supply than it is to raise it back up. I say just try it.
I was given a prescription for Reglan but chose not to use it because of the depression link. Many people have complained of severe depression. I heard that domperidone is better but you can only get it from Canada. In the end I chose to try to boost my supply in other ways.
How do you know you are only giving 1 oz every three hours? Is this from pumping or from weighed feedings? If from pumping, it's totally not an accurate assessment of supply.
If you are trying to beef up supply, try pumping for 10 minutes after several feedings (they say after every feeding, but I couldn't do it). I second oatmeal. There's also great oatmeal cookies you can make. Make sure you stay hydrated, well fed, and rested. Try not to stress about how much you are making. There's also lots of herbs to try: fenugreek, blessed thistle, mothers milk tea, mother's gold tincture, goats rue...oh so many options!
Finally, I'm not sure I understand the work issue. Are you planning on stopping BFing when you go back to work, is that the issue?
Good luck!!
P.S. The Breastfeeding board on TB is really helpful! They may have more experience with Reglan, specifically.
I am nervous about the side effects. But I have tried everything else - fenugreek, blessed thistle, oatmeal, I even had my placenta encapsulated and tinctured - but nothing else is working.
