Gulf Shores, AL - recommendations

We are planning a trip with my parents and 2-year old to Gulf Shores.  Can someone recommend a condo or house on the beach.  I would like there to be a pool to use also.  Thanks!

  • I really like The Seawinds or Phoenix West. Both have really great pools for your 2 year old and are right on the beach. Technically, Phoenix West is ten minutes down the road in Orange Beach, but it's all the same really.

  • We stayed in GS @ Surfside Shores, then we stayed @ Admirals Quarters in Orange Beach for 3-4 consecutive years after that (both have beach-front pools). AQ was like, a mansion compared to SsS. SsS was nice, but AQ was like, Wow. That being said AQ, was considerably more expensive per week (lucky for me I wasn't paying Big Smile)

Wherever you stay IMO its DEF worth the extra $ to have a GulfFront condo/house. Make sure you see this exactly in the details, the descriptions can be tricky & then all of a sudden you get there & your "view" is obstructed by a house or something.

GL! I love it down there! I am dying to go back! Its quiet, the beaches are clean & not crowded (meaning touristy). The downside is that there's not a ton to do down there, but we were cool w/books & walks on the beach, mini-golf...etc. We saw dolphins right off the beach every year we went also :)

Agree with this 100%. You want beach front not beach "access" (which usually means across the street from the beach). I would hate to have to cross Beach Blvd. a dozen times a day with a toddler.

We always stay in a house (which my ILs arrange), so I'm not much help in recommending a specific property, but I think as long as you find a good location that's right on the beach, you'll be good.

We love Gulf Shores, and IMO it's a great place to go with kids. I have reviews from my trip last summer on my blog here, here and here, if you're interested. GL and have fun!

  • My ILs have a condo at Crystal Tower and it is, to me, one of the nicest in the area.  Its 20 stories high, the units that end in 01 and 09 are end units with two balconies.  While the condos are officially "across the street" from the beach you walk thru an air conditioned catwalk to get over to the awesome pools and the beach (its a very quick like 1 minute walk) and the AC is so nice you don't notice.

If I didn't stay there there's some new resort called Turqoise Place or something similar in Orange Beach that looked nice as well.  Good luck!
