Dear Community,

Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.

If you have questions about this, please email help@theknot.com.

Thank you.

Note: This only affects The Nest's community members and will not affect members on The Bump or The Knot.

I got my lab results

I totally thought it would take longer, but I got the call today.

Normal! The lab looked at the BRCA-1 and BRCA-2 genes and they are functioning normally!

I feel relieved know that there's not something "wrong" with my genetic code as far as that is concerned. I know that there is a distinct possibility that there is an unknown gene that I may have... which is why I'm still high-risk... but I was fully prepared to be told I DID have the mis-functioning gene.

I do wish my mom had been able to be tested before she died. If she had been and had thn gene, then that means I would be virtually off the hook so to speak. I am considering finding out if my mom's cousin had cancer and if so seeing if she'd be willing to be tested. That's a lot of ifs, but I supposed it doesn't hurt to ask.

Any way, moving forward the counselor is going to send my info to the high-risk clinic here and I will probably still be screened 1-2 times a year, which I'm fully on board with.

Thanks again for all of your support earlier.  I'm incredibly relieved and encouraged right now!
