Mortgage application

Hello again,

We are at the point where it is time to apply for the actual mortgage. We are going through Key bank and they have sent us the application (long) to fill out and mail in directly.  When I have spoken to friends who indicated that they filled out the application with a loan officer at their bank.  I called our officer and he said we can just do it at home and submit it ourselves.  My question is did you do the application with your loan officer at the bank or on your own? Just for clarification purposes, we did meet with him to do the pre-approval.

Re: Mortgage application

  • We did one over the phone and a couple online.  I'm sure it varies.

  • We didn't meet ours for pre-approval (that was over the phone) but we did meet with him the other night to sign everything. It made it easier since it was so long. You could probably do it over the phone so that someone can walk you through, tell you what you're signing, etc.
  • I have not met my loan officer in person, we only communicate via telephone and e-mail.   We finished signing our application last night at home and DH emailed it to the underwriter this morning.

We have not met with anyone in person for any applications for home purchases or refinances in recent years, only closers.

  • We never met with our loan officer either.  He overnighted the application to us and we mailed it back to him.  We were buying a home out of state, but I'm sure like PP's said there are multiple ways of filling out the paperwork.
  • We've done everything so far over the phone (during pre-approval) and on the internet (with some sort of mortgage esignature) and via email. The only things we "filled out," was signing our names electronically.

  • We met in person each time but I cant say it was any better or easier.

  • We did the pre-approval and the mortgage application in person. However, they messed up the number on our mortgage application at least 4 times while we were at the office. It would have been easier to have done it ourselves. We have had great experiences with the bank otherwise, just had a very clueless person helping us that day.
  • We did everything at home, via e-mail/fax. It was not a problem.

  • we filled ours out at home, but when I dropped it off at the bank, I had an appointment with the loan officer and we went over it there as well
