Has anyone here actually stayed in any of the hotels in MC?  DH and I are thinking of doing that for a night and just wondering what hotels anyone has stayed in or has recs for.

    When I was looking at hotels in Monte Carlo, it was really difficult. That's why we decided to stay in Nice and we are going to take the train (20 mins) over to Monte Carlo and spend a day. I think it's also cheaper in Nice.

    I've always stayed in Nice and taken public transport into Monte Carlo.

    I'll echo the previous posters and recommend that you do not overnight in MC and instead stay in Nice. I visited Monaco a few years ago (blog entry here) but had overnighted in Antibes. In hindsight, I wished I had stayed the night in Nice or even Villefranche-sur-Mer.

    We stayed at the Marriott but it's not technically in Monte Carlo. It's just across te border in Cap d'Ail. It's not really a problem location wise though. It's such a small area that it's an easy walk and the hotel has free shuttles whenever you want them. We enjoyed it.

    I can vouch for this place, I prefer it to most of the cities in the area.
