I admit I have never lurked here, so I have no idea if this is "allowed" or not. I'm just looking for some candid advice on whether people think its possible for me to pull off this haircut, or if I'd look fug. Since you are fashion/beauty experts, I come to you.
Hair that I am lusting after:

What I actually look like:
and
My concerns are that my face is round, I don't feel like I have feminine enough features, and I have crappy eyebrows. (I could use a beauty intervention on my eyebrows alone.)
What do you think? Heck no Blindy, no way, don't do it! Or, give it a whirl, its only hair and it grows back anyway. ???
Re: Do you F&B ladies give consultations? PIPs
Honestly, I think that cut is fug even on Ginnifer Goodwin, and I really like her and think she's extremely pretty. I think you would regret doing it.
I like your current cut a lot! It's very flattering on you.
ETA: I am generally the type who says go for it, it's just hair and will grow back. However, growing hair back out from that super short cut would be a b*tch.
I'd say that your current style is probably more flattering then that pixie, but if you are really lusting after it then why not give it a try. Just before I got pregnant with my daughter in feb 2009 I cut my hair in a similar pixie. I decided it wasn't for me and by the time I had her that November 2009 it was already back to the length you have now (and that's with multiple trims).
So I say go for it, but be prepared for a shock and realize that it may not be any easier to style (in my case it was just as much work, plus I needed a light relaxer to make my hair lay properly)
I wouldn't do it.
Candidly, I think Ginny Goodwin struggles to pull that off. And another thing to think about, yeah, hair grows, but growing that cut out will be acompletebitch.
You have a very round face and you actually want to detract from that. GG's cut will only accentuate it, and not in a flattering way. I'd actually recommend growing it out a little longer, and get longer layers. Short layers are too dated, ala 'The Rachel'.
For the brows, I would recommend professional shaping. They can help you develop the shape, but once you have it, it's easy to do home maintenance without having to do regular appointments.
New people are always welcome here. Please feel free to jump in and just ask away.
another thing to consider is how large your ears are, or how much they stick out. I think ginnfer goodwin's stick out a fair amount which is part of the reason that style looks a little off on her.
I don't know if I would get that pixie cut if I were you. I LOVE her hair...as in love, love. I just am not sure it would be as flattering as your current cut. Honestly, not many can pull that off. It's a tough cut. You need mega cheekbones. (I think)
Newlyweds since 2007
I want your current hair.
re the eyebrows: definitely go see a pro at least the first time and then like every 6 months or so. you can do maintenance yourself. and invest in a good brow pencil, just in case.
I do go to a really good stylist at a way-to-expensive-for-me salon, so I plan on asking her about it at my next appointment. I'm not married to this exact pixie, and would be open to her advice on what might be more flattering. But yeah, still not sure my face could handle having no hair surrounding/framing it. Also, I look terrible (imo) with long hair. I'm sad that someone said hair this short could be just as much/more work to style it. I want easy hair! lol
As for ape asking about my brows... They're awful! Ugh. The first bit of eyebrow closest to my nose is decently brown, so you can actually see the hair. But the second half of them is very, very light brown, and THIN. As in, there aren't that many individual hairs there. Honestly I could probably count them all. And no, they've never been waxed/tweezed/shaved, so it's not from over-plucking or anything. I sometimes try to fill them in with a title bit of brow powder, but then because I've never seen what I look like with eyebrows, I always feel like it looks weird on me. :sad face:
I'm going be posting and running again, but I'll check back here later. I appreciate all these responses!!
I'm late to this. But I agree with all of this. I lust after pixie cuts all the time but I feel like I don't have dramatic enough cheekbones. So I've always been too chicken to commit. If you decide to do a pixie, I'd love to see the results!
For your brows, go to a GOOD professional, like everyone has said. Here, we have a "brow gal" and all she does is brows. She used to be a make-up artist for movies. At an average salon, you're not always going to find someone good enough. You really need to know that they understand what they're doing, before they terrorize your brows and make you look like an alien. And in my experience, if they're under 35, they're unqualified to touch my brows LOL.
I've used a brow pencil since high school. I have very light, fine brows that are practically non-existent. (You should see the reactions I get the first time someone sees me without makeup lol!) Brow pencil does NOT need to look like a crazy old lady at church. It can look really natural. Most people have no idea I pencil mine in. I've used and loved this pencil for about a decade (in Sable, for reference).

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
To be honest, gennifer goodwins cut isn't my favorite example. I also like pixies that are a little longer on top and I think that might be better for your face shape. Plus you can always go shorter, and a long pixie might make it easier to transItion to a shorter style. Here are some styles I like. Some of them were even the images I brought my stylist.
As far as it being hard to style, well that was my experience based on my unruly hair. I expected short hair to be totally wash and go for the most part, but it wasn't for me. Because I went with a longer pixie the pieces on top had to be styled. My hair is coarse and has a lot of natural volume. So it looked bushy unless I really tamed it with a flat iron, product and frequent trims. So right there is something to consider. If you are going to a pricey salon it is going to add up quick. I went to a a female stylist at a barber shop in a younger kind of hip part of town. They cut plenty of women's hair though and I just asked for a stylist who cuts a lot of short styles on women.
After a few trims my stylist suggested a relaxer of sorts. It wasnt a harsh relaxer that is typically used on ethnic hair, just something that lightly relaxes. I ended up finding a similar at home relaxer sold at Walmart. I was the Ogilvie hair straightener sold in a gold sort of box. I think it was with regular hair dyes, not in the ethnic section. So the straightener really helped and I wish I had know about it from the start, but by the time I started using it I was already growing my hair out.
I don't know if any of this helps you, but that was my experience.
Ditto to all of this. I got a pixie cut a few years ago and walked out of the salon loving it. But, it was much harder to manage than I thought it would be. Growing it out was a pain in the bum also. I love, love pixie cuts, but for me it was just not practical. FWIW - I think you could pull it off though.
