My world is about to change
someone hold me.
I love to cook and bake and I am between Paula Deen and twigs and berries.
My daughter just told me that she is going to scrap plans for physical therapy and go into *whispers*
dietetics.
Re: My world is about to change
Tell her to reconsider. DH works in physical therapy and there is good money to be made.
Unless she's going to go into dietetics with the intent of changing America's view on nutrition. In that case, I fully support her decision.
I really think if she could combine the two somehow it would be ideal for her, but she is a really healthy eater and she likes discovering new ways to feed her body to gain maximum health. I think she assumed that she had to work in a hospital to be a dietitian and then she did some research and is loving the idea of sports medicine type dietetics...that way she can combine her two favorite things
sports and food
she is going in undeclared, but she needs structure and lives by structure so her changing her mind would really surprise me
should I steer her toward law school
She sounds just like my DH. Those are his two passions too. I'll have to ask him - there was some sort of accreditation or something he was looking into that would allow him to work with athletes in a more holistic way. With this he could train them physically, but also focus on the nutrition and wellness aspects of their bodies. It was something similar to athletic training, but much more involved. If that sounds like something your DD is interested in, I could have DH send you some info (especially because you're also in Ohio, so the info would be relevant).
please!
I like AW's idea - these seem like interests that can blend together pretty well.

<a href="http://www.thenest.com/?utm_source=ticker&utm_medium=HTML&utm_campaign=tickers" title="Home DIt's funny, I was just talking to my sister about something similar-apparently she spent half the last basketball season having to lecture her girls on the effect that what they were eating (aka typical college junk food) was having on their ability to play to their full potential because they just weren't getting how eating a crapton of junk food the night before a game was contributing to slowing them down come game time. She wasn't able to call in their athletic department's dietician before the end of the season, but is going to arrange a nice long mandatory seminar for the girls before the start of the next basketball season on how eating habits WILL affect playing ability. Sounds like she needs someone like CJ
This is perfect for her...I need to hook her up with your sister as well and AW husband
Maybe one day she can go down to Tallahassee and whip my sister's players into shape
She (my sis) is a fairly healthy eater and has been aware of what is/isn't good to put into her body especially before a game or practice since she was a freshman in HS so seeing these girls SO clueless is driving her nuts!
This is entirely possible. Dietitians are very sought after, especially in gyms, weight loss centers, public health. I hated the idea of clinical dietetics but I love public health and am now working towards a MPH. I worked in a hospital kitchen managing the tray line for patient meals as my first job out of college. The possibilities are endless.
