Hello gorgeous Nola nesties! My hubby has a job opportunity in Covington, LA. We're in Northern KY now and I've lived here all my life so moving is big and scary.
I was trying to get an idea of the areas and I thought "what better place than the Nest?!?" The job is with Allpax in Covington. I've been looking for apartments in that area on apartment guide's website and they don't have any listings! Am I missing something?
I'd love to buy a house rather than rent since we have 4 animals (3 cats, 1 dog). But it won't be easy selling our house up here. We may end up having to rent it out.
What are some outlining cities? I'm thinking within 30 mins of travel to work for him. Any suggestions?
BTW, I'm so jealous of all your fabulous weddings! All of your pictures are amazing!
Re: Cincitucky Nestie Relocating!
I live in Covington, and I love it!! However, there are not a whole lot of apartment complexes here. There are some in Mandeville which is really close. Some other areas to try are Hammond, Slidell, Madisonville, and Abita Springs. Abita and Madisonville are closer to Covington, but Hammond and Slidell are within that 30 minute commute range. Good luck and let us know if we can help anymore!!
PS- loved the pics of your furry children!
I'm getting ready to move to the northshore within the next month and I just had my first visit last week. I can tell you that the area seems absolutely wonderful! We spent most of our time in Covington, Mandeville and Madisonville. They're ALL lovely! I would try looking there first...although Hammond and Slidell may be just as good, I just haven't experienced them yet!
GOOD LUCK with your upcoming move! (the ladies here are a wonderful resource)
I live in Covington. Before I bought my house, I lived in Cypress Lake Apartments in Mandeville. It is right on the Mandeville/Covington line. They aren't really fancy, but they were cheap and I only had to stay for a few months until I bought.
There is also Mandeville Lakes apartments. Now those are super nice but super pricey. There is also Botanica Apartments in Mandeville, but those are also pricey. Mandeville is really close to Covington and at most your commute would be 30 minutes, but my commute was only 10 minutes from Cypress Lakes to my office in Covington.
You may want to try to rent a house because it is almost the same as renting a 2 or 3 bedroom apartment.

Welcome to Louisiana!
We moved to the Hammond area from Columbus, Ohio, in September '07. I have Baton Rouge in my bio since no one seems to know where Hammond is! lol
We currently live in temporary housing at a hotel (long story). I also had a difficult time finding anything to rent (last summer) as nothing was listed online. I think that the building is starting to catch up with demand. There are some condos in Hammond rented by a colleague of my husband's and she likes them. They are listed as "for sale" but they are trying to rent them b/c they haven't been able to sell them all. http://nicholaspointe.com/
You might also try Craigslist. Hmm, Slidell might be in your range, too. Not sure.
HTH!
