I just purchased these Louboutins....

http://tinyurl.com/836wt57

The question is...how do I wear these to work without looking like a total skank-ola?  Plain black dress? I bought them in nude.

((For the record, I am not sure they can be work appropriate but one of my BFFs who is less conservative than me is convinced they are TOTALLY work appropriate)...

Re: I just purchased these Louboutins....

  • Pretty!  It shows up as a glitter finish, so not sure if they're appropriate for your work attire.  If you're in a creative field or a work atmosphere where anything goes for attire, then wear them.  If you're in a conservative field, then wear them on your own time.
  • Not work appropriate, IMO.

  • If you work in an office, you do not wear them to work.  Unless I worked at a strip club, I probably wouldn't wear them during the day, period.  They're night shoes.
  • OMG, those are beautiful - I want them!  But, I agree with PP, probably not work appropriate for most work settings.
  • What about with a Leger dress to a night wedding?  Leger dress is blue - not navy, not turquoise, not baby blue, just blue.  Leger dress is not low cut - no clevage.
  • I don't know.  I think cream business slacks with a peach, beige, etc. silk top would look great.

    Agreed.

Depends on your work environ. Mine is totally casual (IT) and it would be fine (a bit dressed up though) but I'd be able to pull them off with jeans. I think if you aren't drawing attention to them by wearing a dress, it would be fine. Long pants would work.

I don't normally wear slacks (in fact, I never wear pants, I always wear skirts or dresses) but I will totally buy some if it means I could wear my new pretties to work!

  • IMO those are strictly night time shoes. I think for an evening wedding they would be fine with the blue dress.

  • Depends on your profession. Case in point - joanis' glittery awesome KS shoes, totally appropriate in her office.

I was thinking of her Kate Spade shoes too when writing my response above.

I don't see this at all as a depends on your profession thing honestly (unless we're talking strip club, and I'm not saying that to judge strip clubs or the shoes -- strip clubs are just the only place I can think of where evening attire is completely appropriate in the middle of the day).  Those are evening social event shoes.  They would look weird during the day.  I understand that offices have different dress codes, but these go along with blue Herve Leger bandage dress on the list of things that are awesome, but not appropriate for day jobs, or going to Yankees games, or bridal showers, or church on Sunday.  I mean, you wouldn't wear your favorite evening gown to work even though your office is totally casual, right?

ETA: shoes sound perfect with dress for night wedding.

  • I don't think it looks "weird" during the day.  I love her various OOTD's with the KS shoes.
  • If I saw someone wearing glitter CLs on the subway in the morning I'd assume she was doing the walk of shame.

I don't know what joanis's Kate Spade shoes look like.  I do know what the Loubs in the OP look like and they are not day shoes.  Aren't those what we're talking about?

I do not think that there is a complete prohibition on glittery shoes for day -- but some things just aren't meant to be worn at certain times or in certain places.  Which is why, for example, you will find them in the "evening" section of the NM website with a description of "The sparkling glitter and metallic platform make for an enchanted evening."  I think the OP would look odd wearing them to work during the day.  Because they're evening shoes.

Which ones does she have? My BFF has the purple/pink sling backs with the bow. I am so filthy jealous, I love them so much.

She has a gold slingback pair with a bow in the front.  You should check out the older ootd threads if you want to get outfit ideas.

  • I don't think you can wear those to work....maybe an evening work-related function. I don't even think you can really wear those during the day. They are so gorgeous though. My best friend has them and wears them out for dinners or special ocassions.

You think they look like strippper shoes? odd...

  • Gorgeous shoes!

I could also see them with jeans if you're going out at night.

No, I don't.  As I said later, "I don't see this at all as a depends on your profession thing honestly (unless we're talking strip club, and I'm not saying that to judge strip clubs or the shoes -- strip clubs are just the only place I can think of where evening attire is completely appropriate in the middle of the day)."

  • Not work appropriate at all
