The Oct 2011 BMB is all sorts of crazy. I'm trying to remember the epic posts that have come out of there, but all I remember is "crrraaaaazzzzzyyyy."
ETA: Wait, are they the sane ones in this discussion? Wha?

I'm reading the first link from TIP, and I'm appalled that no one has pointed out that it's farking HOT in Houston, and it's a miracle those babies didn't die from heat stroke. I'm in Austin, and I have family in Houston - it's been in the 80s there on an almost daily basis.
I realize I've been thoroughly flamed before for my lack of sympathy for people who leave their kids in hot cars because they "forgot" they were there. This guy left an infant and a toddler in a hot car while he went to look at guns, and the police f*cking let him LEAVE with those kids? He was in there for AN HOUR. The kids were removed by police after 32 minutes. Where the f*ck was dad during those 20+ minutes?
Mom is 20 years old, has two kids under 2 and is pregnant AGAIN, they're living in a hotel, she's bipolar but chooses not to take any medication for it, Dad leaves the kids in a hot car for an hour to look at guns. Mom is posting all over the internet making excuses for him "oh, his mom left the kids in the car all the time" and defending him and generally sounding like a dumbass. Thank GOD CPS took those kids. I have zero sympathy for these people, and it scares the bejeezus out of me that they've reproduced again.

Mcgee, I 100% guarantee you that the people posting on babycenter don't know that 1) 80 degree temps mean the interior of the car is easily over 100 degrees and 2) that babies cannot regulate their body temperature like adults. I promise most are saying, "I'm okay when it's 80 degrees out, so NBD."

Also: WTF
We have had CPS investigate us twice for the most stupid reasons (one because my mom lived in her friends loft and I stayed in the house for a year before my mom got a job. They said that a loft is unfit to live in for a child but I wasn't even living in there! The second because I had a baby and said I dont take him down stairs around the cats! So what ? I was 15 and didn't need to leave my room, I had everything in my room. They were woried about why I wouldn't take him downstairs

All the crazies from the board left because we were mean to them. They now have a FB group we are not allowed to be a part of. The board is pretty tame now.
My anniversary board had a split like that, except the sane people left.
Actually, some people from my anniversary board were on your BMB. The sane ones.

Yes, it's calmed down quite a bit. I tried reading a good bit of this last night, but I couldn't get past page 10. My brain hurt.
I'm a child protection social worker. I was surprised to learn that a lot of parents call to "report" themselves. Many families recognize that there's a problem and want help but don't know how else to get it.
