Lee Whitnum, an author from Greenwich, is running to be the Democratic nominee for a U.S. Senate seat from Connecticut, called U.S. Rep. Chris Murphy (D-CT), one of her opponents, a "whore" for Israel during a debate last night.
"I am dealing with whore here, who sells his soul to AIPAC (the American Israel Public Affairs Committee), who will say anything for the job," she said, in regards to Murphy.
Whitnum also lashed out at another opponent, calling him "ignorant."
Whitnum: I want to change my closing statement a little tiny bit in response. I?m appalled that when I talk about the neo-conservatives it?s somehow twisted, some sort of a racist comment. This is documented fact, the neoconservative role in the taking down of Iraq, unnecessary war is a fact, it?s not opinion. I am dealing with whore here, who sells his soul to AIPAC (the American Israel Public Affairs Committee), who will say anything for the job.
Ignorant, his response to what I said was just shocking. I?m speaking documented fact and I think a zealot. I would like to propose a prosecution of American settlers who go to Israel and maim or kill in the Promised Land. Since 2000, 66,000 of the indigenous culture have been killed, many of them by American settlers. This is viewed all over the Middle East and we are hated for this worldwide. By prosecuting people here who kill overseas, we would solve anti-American sentiment worldwide. This is the #1 reason why people hate this country. If you don?t nip terrorism in the bud and the reason why..
Moderator: Your time is up, thank you. Mr Murhpy.
Murphy: You know, I advocated for all the candidates to be a part of these debates. I might think twice about that with that kind of language being used on the airwaves.
Re: Dem candidate for US Senate calls rival a whore for AIPAC
Yes, that's the way to improve the tenor of political dialogue!
You never hear of an author running for office (what has she written), but it strikes me that she has a strange sense of sentence structure, especially for a writer.
"I am dealing with whore here"
"Ignorant, his response to what I said was just shocking."
" I?m speaking documented fact and I think a zealot. "
HUH?
No kidding. Shouldn't there be tons of [sic]s in there???
See? We as a nation do not, in fact, discriminate against non-English speakers! They can be elected politicians, too! America, FCVK YEAH!
I don't care who the hell you are or what party you're in, calling women shores for any reason is not ok. Calling people names just shows you have nothing important to say.
my read shelf:
The whore in question is a dude, so it's ok!

To clarify, I think she called a guy a whore. Which to my mind is totally hypocritical, as if he had called her one he'd be vilified for a gender-based slur.
my read shelf:
Exactly. What's so dumb about it is that she would've actually made her point if she'd just accused her opponent of being a puppet. Done and done. No offensive language needed.
Of course, if politicians never f-ed up like this, our board would probably wind up filled with even more religion talk.
Oh hon, go read copz's 40+ post in the Facebook E08 group and then come sit next to me. I feel your pain.
Also, Autocorrect tried to change "oh hon" to "Mohammed." MUSLIM CONSPIRACY!!
Dude, my phone's autocorrect suggests 'Mitsubishi' when I type 'It'. I've never typed Mitsubishi on my phone ever*. Nobody ever has a reason to. It must be advertising they paid Apple for at a discounted price - comes with firmware upgrade.
ETA: *Ever ever.
