Best straight leg jeans for curvy girls?

I have decided that straight leg jeans may be fun for spring.  Jeans are somewhat challenging for me since I have a pear shape with wider hips but a small waist.  I tried gap but hated the way they flattened my butt, the pockets are placed poorly.  Any recommendations are appreciated!

Re: Best straight leg jeans for curvy girls?

  • Have you tried Old Navy?  They're cheap, but they have a million cuts.  I'm a pear shape as well and the Sweetheart and Diva work for me.

You do know, right, that straight legs aren't recommended for pears because it accentuates our hips and thighs?  I don't wear anything other than a boot cut or a trouser since those are the styles that balance our upper legs out.

  • Oh jeez!  I did not realize that, thank you!  I am tired of the trouser and bootcut but you bring up a very good point.  I'll check out old navy, thanks again.
  • I mostly wear boot cut, but I'm starting to think that curvy girls can pull off straight leg jeans if it's done right.  I think you just have to try on a lot of them and see what works or doesn't work for you. Try JCrew, Loft, Nordstrom, The Buckle, Gap, etc and try on a million of them.

While they aren't technically straight-leg, I would recommend JCrew's bootcut jean. They are boot cut, but it's a smaller boot cut and looks straighter and not too flared.  I have these in white and LOVE them. They're very flattering.

I think something like this from Loft can work too. I have some that are very similar from Nordstrom Rack that were only $35.

  • I have your body type and have the Same problem with Gap jeans. I really love Paige Skyline Straight. Some people consider these skinnies, but I think they are somewhere between straight and skinnies.

I don't really believe that. I love my hips/hour glass shape and really like how straight/skinny leg emphasizes that. If I wear bootcut it makes my legs look bigger then they are.

I really like the Old Navy Sweetheart Skinny. I get lots of complements on them.

  • Try the brand CJ by Cookie Johnson. They are made for curvy women who have the issue of a gaping waist when the jeans fit in the hips. If you don't like the price, you can get them on 6pm.com and also Nordstrom Rack. I have two pairs and love them.
  • Thanks for the recommendations, I have great recommendations to start the hunt.  I did not mind the straight leg look on me, other than the gap jeans flattened my butt.  Skinny jeans tend to be too snugly on my sporty calves ;)!
  • I have a pair of Bandolino jeans, straight leg, that I get a lot of compliments on.
The day I left was just my beginning.
  • I found straight jeans at Eddie Bauer fit great on my curvy frame. I went in the one near me because they were closing and having a liquidation sale. I wish I had bought more than one pair. I also have the ON Diva bootcut. I haven't tried ON straight leg jeans.
