I am a novice at sewing and my 1st project is to make bean bags for my son's tic-tac-toe game. I want to get a cutting board, but don't know what size to get. I do plan to do more sewing in the future; different crafts and maybe someday my kids' clothes. Is 24 in x36 in the best or is there a better size? TIA
Re: what size cutting mat?
Stand up for something you believe in.
The biggest you can afford. I have a 24x36 and it's almost always big enough, but there are times I wish it were bigger.
I couldn't agree more!

I have a number of them, but like the 24x36 for cutting fabric for quilting and then a smaller one for other small projects and cutting (because I don't have a dedicated sewing/craft area and I don't have to clear the table for the smaller one). The reason I like the 24" width is that most quilting fabric is 44" so folded in half I can cut it all in one strip without adjusting.
Best time to get one is when they are on sale at Joann's for 40% off and they are also doing a stackable 20% off coupon, so they are 60% off total.
