Adjusting toddler to 6 hour time change
Another question re: our trip to Spain. Any tips for adjusting your LO to that type of time change (6 hours for us). Usually when we travel abroad DH and I just force ourselves to stay up until the appropriate bedtime, but I don't think we can do that with DS. I don't mind if he gets on a weird schedule since things tend to happen later in Spain anyway, but I have no idea how to go about getting him somewhat adjusted.

Re: Adjusting toddler to 6 hour time change
Just roll with the punches. It's torture for everyone trying to keep them awake and trying to make them sleep when they're jetlagged. Make sure you have tons of snacks in your room, because they may well wake up and want dinner at 3am.
There's an advantage when they're still on 2 or 3 (or 5! naps). They're accustomed to sleeping every couple of hours anyway, so naps just grow longer because it's dark, and night wakings become longer because it's daytime. For my kids jet lag was easiest when they were youngest. Once they dropped all naps it's worst. But, mine are old enough for melatonin now.
Make sure you don't get on the new schedule quicker than he does, because you want to be awake if he is and you're in a hotel room. The first night will be fine, because he'll be excited and tired, The second night will be odd, the third night will be hell and the fourth night will be pretty close to normal.
Make sure that if it's daylight outside the curtains are wide open, whether he's napping or it's 6am. Sunlight is the reason you adjust.
Are you going through Madrid airport? They have the most amazing children's area I've ever seen.
Just roll with it. It took my DS about 3 days to adjust to Italy from Michigan. He was crabby the first few days. I had a good stroller so he slept in that when he wanted to. I would not do TONS of activities the first few days til the little one is more adjusted.
