I have such angst over this holiday

I don't know why, but I feel such social pressure to do something for Easter. We don't celebrate Easter religiously, so I'm at a loss at how to "celebrate". When DD is older, I plan to spend it doing family stuff (zoo, aquarium, etc), but she's still a little young to appreciate those things. It would be adorable to see her all dressed up, but we have no where to bring her and it's ridiculous to get her all dressed up to sit at home and play. People keep asking me what we're doing, what did I get DD, and the answer is nothing. Should I do something?

Re: I have such angst over this holiday

  • you could go out for a nice brunch and get an early seating since you aren't going to church. That would let her dress up.

In our area there are a lot of easter egg hunts. Our local grocery store is having one today.  The county had one last week at the rec center, our HOA had one too.

  • Do whatever you want and ignore everyone else. Easter is just another Sunday for those of us that aren't religiously inclined. Personally I spent last Sunday with H's family and since my lives states away, we're just hanging out at the house, maybe we'll go to a movie. I'm tired of doing things because I feel like I "have" to.

  • We're doing a basket for E, and we also donate either a flock of chicks or a couple of shares of a trio of rabbits with Heifer ($20).  We also use Easter as an excuse to buy a nice dress that is then used for every fancy event for the rest of the year.
