wdyt of this training schedule

My next half is 3 weeks away. I've been running 8 miles every weekend for the last month. Today I did 9. I was planning on 10, then 11 then race. For my last half I did a ten mile run the week before and I was good, although my wall came right around mile 11 which is why I was thinking of trying to get to 11 before the race. Or, should I do 10 (or 11) and then do a longer taper with maybe a 6 or 7 mile run the week before the race? My mid week runs usually vary between 3-5 miles depending on if I am doing speed work, tempo runs or just a fun easy run.

Also, while I'm asking. I've been lifting heavy twice a week.  Should I take it easy the week of my half or go as usual. Even if I go as usual I would have 3 days between my last lifting day and my race.

  • My last half I did 11 two weeks before and 8 the week before.  I lifted the week of the race, but not as heavy as usual.

  • I usually do 10 the week before the race - but really, it doesn't matter. You're trainin is already done.

I run 13 at least once during every half training cycle, even w/ the 13, i still hit a wall at mile 10 - mile 10 is the "make it or break it" mile for me.

  • I did two 11 mile runs, the last one was two weeks before the race with a 7 mile run the week before the race.  I wanted a long taper but I was having some major soreness in my abductor I was tending to.
