Are all bundt cakes dry?

My Mom asked that I bring a cake for Easter and since my Dad likes bundt cakes, she suggested that.  He's asking for "chocolate cake with white frosting".

I've made bundt cakes before and they seem to come out dry :(

Anything fudgy & brownie like?

Re: Are all bundt cakes dry?

  • I've never had a Bundt that was dry. My mom's friend used to make a "death by chocolate" one that had chocolate chips, pudding mix, and who knows what else in it. Delish.
  • dang!  I must be doing something very wrong!

    Any favorite recipes to share?

This sounds like a triple chocolate bundt cake that my mother made when I was growing up. It's super easy, best if made the day ahead and moist and yummy! I still make this on occasion (even though it's not from scratch.) My friends affectionately call it "The Bundt."

    Chocolate Chip Cake

    Preheat the oven- 350 degrees

spray and flour a bundt pan.

1 box of Duncan Hines "Deep Dark Chocolate Cake" (Honestly... any chocolate cake mix is fine. I've used Devils Food before.)

1 small box of instant chocolate pudding mix

    1/2 cup vegetable oil

    1 cup water

    1 cup sour cream

    4 eggs

    6oz bag of chocolate chips

Beat together the first six ingredients for four minutes.

Stir in the chocolate chips and transfer the mixture to the prepared bundt pan.

bake 350 degrees for 1 hour.

Before serving, lightly dust with powdered sugar. I like to serve this with Baileys whipped cream, but vanilla ice cream works well also.

The leading cause of dry cakes is overbaking.  It could be that your oven temp is too high, or just that you are leaving it in for too long. Have you checked the temperature in your oven to make sure that it is calibrated correctly?
