Did anyone catch Scandal last night?

I really liked it.
I will be watching next week for sure.
I am so happy to see Henry Ian Cusick who played Desmond on LOST on another show.
What did you think?

Re: Did anyone catch Scandal last night?

  • I've only watched 45 minutes of it, but I like it.  I am dvr-ing the whole series, so I hope it sticks around.

Who was the scruffy white guy?  I've seen him in something, I think Weeds, but I can't remember. ETA: Ok, I looked this up.  He was in Weeds, playing Guillermo.

I haven't finished Scandal yet, and I do know that it relates at least somewhat to the soldier plotline, but I have to admit to being a little annoyed with the writing, specifically the redhead's "I hate Republicans" and the stereotypical characterization of the soldier's views in the beginning, even before we knew that it might come into play later on.  It was too simplistic, and I find it very trite how you can be watching a random show and some anti-Republican dig is thrown about.  It's lazy, overused, and dumb.  I find it in David Kelley's work a lot.

    Seriously. ITA.
I was kinda shocked when she came right out and said that.
    It was pretty offensive.
    That was all pretty predictable.

I like the Olivia/President plot line.
I wonder what will come of that....which from the previews looks like it will be the focus for the rest of the season.
Kerry Washington...I thought she was gonna bug me but she plays the role very well.

  • For the most part I really enjoyed it, and can't wait to see how it plays out.

    But, ITA with this:

I think Shonda is way too talented for this type of BS, but I also feel like Grey's and Private Practice don't present a great forum for her political beliefs, and this show will - so I really hope it doesn't turn into that.

Speaking of PP - is there a reason it got moved to Tuesdays? To give Scandal a better position in the line up, or was PP not performing well?

  • I tried to find some Private Practice figures for you, but haven't really been successful.  I did find out, however, that a show I really like, Body of Proof, is probably going to be canceled.  I also enjoyed Bent, but I should've known that it couldn't succeed since it was on NBC.  Anything other than the Voice on there is a failure, even their good shows.

ETA: For February 17th, Private Practice had 7.089 million viewers and a 2.6/7 in the most coveted demographic.  I am no tv expert for sure, but I think that's a decent but not great rating.  The next wk was 6.41 and 2.2/6.

  • We watched last night on DVR. I really enjoyed it. Kerry Washington is great. With all the gladiator and "we can't cry here" stuff I thought she was just gonna be a b!tch on wheels but it's good to have already seen her vulnerability with the president storyline. DH liked it too which is always a plus so we'll continue watching.
  • I forgot to DVR this last night, and I could shoot myself for it. Everyone of my friends is talking about it, it's probably the first new series in a while that looks interesting...

  • I think I read somewhere that moving PP to Tuesday was to give Scandal a better chance and to hopefully bring in the GA watchers since it was on right after GA.
