Happy Monday!

Any luck ducks have today off?

This week is my last week of work, and wow, do I ever have a lot of work to complete.   It's mostly just reports and cleaning my desk up, but still, there's a lot!

Our weekend went well.  We got a lot of work done around the house, so that's good.  We probably made my grandmother upset by not going to Easter dinner yesterday, but we got so much done I don't feel so bad about it.  6 hours of work around the house > 6 hours traveling to and from (and eating) dinner, sorry family!

Tonight I'm suggesting we head out to Home Depot and Michaels to get some things we need, we'll see what the mister has to say about that.

How was everyone's weekend?

Re: Happy Monday!

  • Raynes - I can not believe this is your last week of work. Getting so excited to hear that baby has arrived!

My weekend was good.  I enjoyed havine the time off. We did dinner Saturday night, and then BIL & SIL came over for a while to see the boys. That was fun, as we don't get to see them often enough.

Yesterday the boys did great with hunting eggs. Zach was more interested in opening the eggs (once he discovered there was cheddar goldfish in them), then hunting so Christian took care of the hunting. It was so cute to see their faces. We didn't make it to the neighborhood egg hunt, as the boys were not feeling well and it took them over an hour before they fell asleep for their naps. There was no way I was waking them up.

That was the extent of the weekend, besides the standard cleaning. Have a great day ladies.

  • Raynes- I can't believe this is your last week of work. Any certain projects you want to work on before LO arrives?

This weekend was great. We got so much done around the house. All of the walls, ceilings, and closets are painted. We put a load of stuff in the attic in the closets. I took all of the boys winter stuff and put it in their closets and some of their toys they can live without for a couple of weeks.

Yesterday we went to easter at my grandmothers and it was so nice to see family and not work on the house. We took the boys fishing afterwards. DH and I also packed a few boxes of stuff last night. We officially do not have any curtains hanging up or pictures on our walls in our house. It looks really different.

Today I am back at work but DH and Jordan are off working on the house. Their goal today is work on painting door frames and window casings.

I've only got 2 projects I'm actively working on right now, the rest is just finishing up reports that I should have done months ago and tidying my desk.  I really hate writing reports.  My replacement has been taking most of the new projects!

  • Morning ladies. I'm at work but realized after I got in that my boss is out today. So it should at least be a quiet day for me. I'm pretty excited about that.

Our weekend was good. We had friends visiting from OOT. We had them over Friday night. They got to our house around 7 and ended up staying the night. I went to bed around 3. Obviously we had a great time. Saturday I did some work around the house and then met up with more friends. It ended up being another late night. Yesterday we relaxed around the house most of the day. I did some laundry and a bit of housework but that was about it. I also finished up watching season 2 of Downton Abbey. Thanks for the rec ladies - I've loved watching it!

  • Good morning! This weekend was pretty quiet--we did our usual errands and chores, and I got to squeeze in a long run yesterday. I spent the weekend reading so that I can write an upcoming review before we leave for Cancun. And we also did a lot of Cancun daydreaming. :)

Today, my coworkers and I are boss-less; I have no idea what's going to happen, but I'm still job hunting for something else. This has been a crazy transition (but not the worst, considering that my old job is about to go under). Tonight, we're probably just going to relax and have flank steak tacos for dinner.

Hope everyone has a great day!

  • No such luck here, but the boss will be out of town Wed. & Thursday, so that's even better.  I'll be out Friday for as many doctor's appointments as I can schedule on one day.  The rest of the week should be super busy as I get ready for our auditor to come on next Monday and this is a payroll week.

The weekend was good.  We didn't 'do' anything, but got a lot of errands run, did some cleaning, went to church, brunch and dinner yesterday.  Needless to say, I am disappointed in the scale this morning.

  • Good morning

This weekend was lazy. We hung out with friends, watched Game of Thrones season 1 and yesterday drove around exploring in my car. I put sunscreen on but not enough and my shoulders are burnt. :( It was fun though.

We didn't do much for Easter. I went on a run using my Zombie Run! game. It is so much fun, and had brunch at this beautiful outdoor patio near a fountain.

  • Morning!  I'm back to work today.

My weekend was interesting.  Friday night I started with being really uncomfortable and having contractions.  They were pretty close together (2-6 minutes) but only 30-50 seconds long.  Needless to say I didn't sleep much.

Saturday night we had ILs over for chinese food.  I really wasn't feeling well from the intermittent contractions and lack of sleep so I didn't have much to eat.  That night DH and I watch Gran Torino and I realized I hadn't felt baby 'wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle' in like it normally does NON-STOP between 8pm and 10pm and I started to freak out a bit.  I ended up eating some ice cream and having some small movements.  Enough to appease me but I was still worried.  I figure baby was just tired too.  So, that night the contractions ended up being longer (1 minute or longer) but they were much farther apart 4-20 minutes.  Blah!  Again, not a lot of sleep.

Yesterday I decided to go for a walk outside since it was beautiful and I was hoping that would get things moving.  Well, it has made me either - TMI ALERT -  lose my mucus plug or start my bloody show.  I'm not even sure if there is a difference.  We went to dinner at Dad's house and that was continuing and I'm having random contractions.  Last night I didn't even bother timing anything since I didn't feel anything was consistent enough.  I walked on the treadmill when I got home to keep things moving (and hoping my water would break at night - no such luck)

I slept a little better last night and got up this morning and walked 2 miles on the treadmill.  Again, more MP or show and random contractions but that seems to be it.  I guess I'm going to work.  I'm night shift and on call (are you fricking kidding me?) so we'll see how that goes.  I do need to talk to my boss about my Wed and Fri shifts this week.  They have me actually working shifts up on the floor and we had talked about keeping me in the basement if need be and right now I think need be.  I get constant braxton hicks if I even stand up so it's in their best interests to keep me from walking around (at work at least - lol)

So, I'm night shift AND on call the next 2 nights.  I think it's going to be pretty funny if I go into labour since they are so stupid with the schedule.  I'm working until 8pm with an intern who, by law, must have a licenced pharmacist in the hospital with him to run the place and after 4 or 5pm, we are the only ones there.  So if I go into labour, I have to wait for someone else to come in?  Really?  And if I go into labour while on call, i'm just going to turn my pager off and they will end up calling a manager a home.  Their planning in this whole thing has sucked.  They shouldn't be RELYING on me at this point, I should be more of an extra.

Also, I know I'm in a hospital if I go into labour, but we don't have labour and delivery.  I have to go to the other hospital so it's not like being in the hospital is convenient or anything.

Sorry about the huge work rant but I needed to get that out.  Have a great day!

I love that game! Except I get kind of creeped out when the trail I use gets crowded.

Oh, and P.S. to Beth--your work rant is well-earned. I kept thinking to myself that it was crazy they still had you on schedule/on call given how far along you are. It's one thing to have you working, it's another thing to having you filling in crucial roles when you could go into labor. Really, really dumb on their part! How much longer until you're no longer on call/working?

    image
  • Honestly beth, with the loss of your MP/start of the bloody show (yup, same thing) I'd tell them that they'll need to fill the rest of your shifts for the week because you're officially leaving!!  Because, really, it's better if they can work on it now, and figure something out ahead of time rather than have to scramble if/when you do go into full blown labour.

  • beth - wow, rant away.  That's ridiculous.  How much longer are you working?

I have today off.  We're moving from my MIL's house apartment to a hotel in Manhattan for the week, which will be nice to be a bit more central.  We're also heading out to do some initial baby shopping and looking at strollers.  It's so much cheaper to buy here, but I don't think we'll pull the trigger on anything yet. We just haven't had the time to do proper research.

We had a great weekend, though.  So much fun to tell my ILs.  My ears are still ringing a bit from all the shrieking!  We've also met up with some friends and shared the news.  It's nice to finally be out in the open about it, but I don't think I fully appreciated/expected how opinionated people are about all things pregnancy/baby and how quick they are to tell you all about their experiences (which of course is the only way to do it!).  I guess this is just the start of it, and I'll have to get used to it.

I couldn't agree more. I think it's time for you to stop completely.  If they won't accept it, call your doctor, I'm sure he/she will pull you out of work.

  • Thank you so much for all your concern and advice.  I honestly need someone removed from the situation to give me perspective sometimes.

With regards to on call - tonight and tomorrow are my last.  I wasn't supposed to have any in April but they suck.

With the whole mucus plug thing - I always thought that wasn't a good indicator because it can regenerate.  Granted I'm full term so it may or may not.

My last scheduled shift is April 20th (next Friday).  I set it up that way being a FTM I assumed I would be late and was feeling AWESOME until this past Friday.  Technically my due date has ranged anywhere from April 17th to the 22nd and my ticker is based on the 17th.

I'll talk to my manager today and give her the heads up on my situation and concerns and maybe try to get a hold of the nurses line at my docs?

Seriously, I do just want my water to break really soon so I don't even have to worry about these concerns.

Oh, I and I think I'm officially done running.  lol

  • beth, I can't believe they are pulling all that funny business with you. That's total crap and I agree with the others, tell them that they are on their own as of now. If you are getting the MP/bloody show I wouldn think that you are --><--- this close to labor. Good luck!

This weekend was good. We went out on a day trip to get some four wheeling in. Hayden and I stayed at the camp while DH and the boys went off. She did great just hanging out with the other little kids, even if my cousins daughter did beat her in the head and try to pull her hair (they are 5 months apart).

Yesterday was fun, we got to dress H up for Easter and go visit family. Obviously she's not into the egg stuff quite yet but I had fun putting together a basket for her. We got some binkys that glow in the dark, they are amazing. I don't have to flip the light on in the middle of the night to find it for her. Awesome!

    Have a good day ladies!

I'd say MP w/ the contrax you've been having point a bit more towards impending labour, but yeah, I've read about it regenerating too.

IMHO, you've got a year of leave (I'm assuming you're talking it all) so heading out a week or two early isn't going to cost you much in the long run.  Originally looking at the posts on our BMB from the ladies in the US, I figured I'd work up until I went into labour too, but most of them are getting 6-8 weeks off, so I can totally understand wanting to maximize time off w/ baby instead of time off waiting for baby.

Also?  You're a freaking rockstar for running until 38+ weeks.  Like, seriously.  I am so kicking myself in the pants for giving up on exercise so easily.  I hope you have an awesome labour!

  • OMG Beth, that's a worthwhile rant!

I'm off today (don't beat me), but I'm getting caught up on lots of school work. We had a great weekend - parents & brother came down and they helped us put together a million Ikea boxes of furniture. Our place has really started to come together - I may take photos to show you of more than that one corner that I'm happy with. My Dad and I went to the flower wholesalers and picked up 80$ worth of flowers and made 5 huge arrangements (it's a hobby of his, and the big stuff always comes out on holidays), so now my home has an insane amount of blooms going on.

The real surprise of last night though was at Easter dinner. My parents gave us a card with a cheque for 10k in it so we could put it towards a new car. Indifferent I was totally speechless (which rarely happens) and burst into tears. I was just SO happy to see them for the weekend, since I don't get to do that very often, and the fact that they surprised us with something that was just so ridiculously, over the top generous, was so overwhelming. I feel very, very lucky to have the family I do.

    1) I love that your dad is into flower arranging and wish we had things like the wholesale flower markets in Hamilton, I love those stores.

    2) Re: quoted, that's amazing!

  • Beth--first, ahhhhh...I am so excited for you. Second, I agree that your work is crazy and you should be done :-)

Our weekend was good. We watched the Masters. BIL came over yesterday. We got some errands in and we started cleaning out the office that will be the nursery. Ed just needs to move the big furniture (pull out couch and desk) out and we can start thinking about actually setting up a nursery (what?!).

We were supposed to grill pork tonight, but it's rainy, so we might go out instead. We'll see...
