What are your thoughts on GMO foods? I try to eat natural, but should probably work harder at identifying organic brands etc. I really wish they would label GMO foods in the US as there is some research that links them to auto immune disease (which I have).
This article about genetically modified foods is really interesting and informative.

Re: GMO Foods
I'm against...
I agree there should be a labeling system. I think GMO companies are the devil and I hate, hate, hate their association and hand and hand partnerships with our government to run out small farmers.
They piss me off to no end. It's not even autoimmune disorders or anything like that. I just think that as businesses they are total and complete a-holes.
/rant...
Wait. For some good reading on this and other food topics a really good book is "Animal Vegetable Miracle" by Barbara Kingsolver.
I also think they should be labeled as a bare minimum. Ditto the loathing of big Ag working hand in hand with the gov't. I can't think too hard about it or my head would explode.
I haven't read through the whole PDF but I think stuff like this is potentially a HUGE problem: If Bt genes relocate to human gut bacteria, our intestinal flora may be converted into living pesticide factories, possibly producing Bt-toxin inside of us year after year.
If some kind of funny business is going on in our bodies at a genetic level and we're left with residual effects even after withdrawing the GM food we could be really screwed.
This is a good reminder to keep avoiding products made with corn, soy, canola, etc.
To the best of my knowledge, no. I want to say I read something that listed how fruits/veggies with a SKU starting with a certain number are organic, SKUs starting with another number meant they're GMO, another SKU starting number means not organic but not GMO, etc...but I can't for the life of me remember where I read it.
Some of the posters on the Green Living board (SuperGreen being one) have great info on GMO and non-GMO foods, so they may have more info.
