Breaking News: Special prosecutor says she won't use a grand jury in the Trayvon Martin case

No further details yet though on CNN or MSNBC.

Update: http://usnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/04/09/11100828-prosecutor-no-grand-jury-for-travyon-martin-case?lite

By Sevil Omer, msnbc.com

A special prosecutor has decided not to use a grand jury in the Trayvon Martin case.

State Attorney Angela Corey?s decision is not to be considered a factor in whether charges are eventually brought against George Zimmerman, Corey's office said in a statement.

The grand jury, which was previously scheduled by the prosecutor, was set to convene on Tuesday.

Martin, a 17-year-old from Miami Gardens, was shot to death by Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer, at a gated community in Sanford on Feb. 26.

  • So this is the special prosecutor appointed by the df Rick Scott?

  • I assume this means an arrest is imminent.

I want to assume that, but I worry just the opposite that they didn't find enough evidence...although there are things popping up now that suggest he may be arrested

Well, Zimmerman suddenly has a new attorney (per CNN).  Maybe the old one jumped ship before he had to defend the indefensible?

Anything you can achieve through hard work, you could also just buy.
  • I'm not surprised to hear this since it has been reported from the outset that Angela Corey rarely uses a grand jury. I read that she would only have to use the grand jury for murder 1 charge not for lesser murder charges.

There's always enough evidence for a grand jury, what's the saying about the ham sandwich?

I think if they didn't have enough evidence or didn't want to prosecute, they'd have kicked it to the grand jury so they could say "see, we tried! The grand jury didn't want to indict, it wasn't our call." they know that simply not doing anything (or rather, continuing to do nothing) will only prolong this sh!storm. So I think this must mean they're about to arrest and charge him.
